Looking for Wordpress Developer to Design Newspaper Site
July 2, 2010 1:43 AM
I'm hoping to get some help with our newspaper website. I work for a bilingual Spanish and English weekly paper in Los Angeles. Our current site is on Wordpress and it is based on a theme that I tweaked a couple years ago.
I've been doing some research on plugins and other add-ons that we think will get our site there functionally, but would like someone to help me put it together right and make sure we're not missing anything. There were some doodads that I couldn't find (such as a classified ad intake form that can also calculate ad prices based on word count, not sure if this is considered difficult or hard to do - sounds easy though, but if not, please don't take offense!) and might need help with that. I can also entertain the fact that I've probably missed something else we need to be doing, so I'm definitely open to suggestions.
Also probably the biggest hurdle for me right now is the design of the site. I don't want something so designed that I couldn't tinker with it later, but still want it to look clean and nice. Probably going to want to keep a clean-edged, flat design (as opposed to the brushed metal, beveled edges, textured, and/or 3-dimensional look).
I mainly just really need somebody knowledgeable, and with the same sensibility about websites and the internet, to bounce ideas off of and get us to an easy-on-the eyes, friendly, hopefully interactive and fun newspaper site.
Thanks.
