Senior Web Specialist at The Banff Centre

This position is for the Senior Web Specialist of the Marketing and Communications department for The Banff Centre, a globally respected arts, cultural, and educational institution and conference facility located in Banff National Park, Canada.

Position Objectives

* Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Senior Web Specialist is responsible for leading the operation, maintenance, and long-term strategy of The Banff Centre’s outward facing online assets, as the senior member of a central web team. Working with the Director of Communications, the Senior Web Specialist will develop policies, programming initiatives, and on-line strategies to communicate The Banff Centre’s role as a catalyst for creativity and to market Centre programs, events, and conference sales, as well as providing Web advice and expertise to internal departments. As part of the Marketing & Communications Web team, the Senior Web Specialist will take on a leadership role while working with the team in day to day operations of the Marketing & Communications online content and functionality for all Centre departments.

Responsibilities

* Take a leadership role in developing the strategic plan for the Web and in the development and implementation of dynamic Web programming applications within the Microsoft programming environment (ASP.Net 1.1 and 2.0, Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver ASP.Net Server Behaviours, SQL, XML and JavaScript)
* Coordinate Web design and architecture: considers current trends in Web use, usability study results, communications functions, marketing, technologies, and needs of Banff Centre audiences
* Provide direction for the Centre in area of site navigation for the Centre's Website and its sub-areas
* Help develop standards, guidelines and templates for Web images, links, logos, nomenclature, metadata, secure forms, extranets, databases, etc., as per central Communications policies and guidelines
* Assist Marketing Officers in the design and distribution of HTML emails through direct marketing initiatives
* Work in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 to edit and create Web pages, using ASP.NET, XHTML, XML, and other languages as applicable using the Dreamweaver IDE
* Review, edit and publish finalized Web materials
* Work with all tools within Adobe Creative Suite to create, edit and optimize Web images
* May supervise on a day to day basis all web-related assistants such as work studies, etc.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience in Advertising, Marketing or Communications is recommended.
* Extensive experience and training using Adobe Creative Suite (3), Dreamweaver, ASP.NET, CSS, XHTML, XML, Adobe Flash, Actionscript 2&3, JavaScript, and AJAX.
* Must also possess experience and knowledge of proper image management techniques, web applications design, Flash applications structure, and a solid understanding of fundamental tools used in online promotion and marketing, including web analytics.
* Proficient in using ASP.NET/SQL technologies. Knowledge of ASP.NET, .NET form objects, Visual Basic, VBscript, is required. Experience with open-sourced software, working with web servers, and management Microsoft IIS 6.0/7.0 would be beneficial assets in this role.
* Must understand operational procedures for working on the Centre's Web site, and provide clear direction to ITS personnel on operational needs and requirements.

This is a CUPE local 4318 salaried support staff position, with a 6 month probationary period.

This position pays $3,312.40/month and $3,679.43/month after probation, working up to 35 hours per week.
