Technical Content Editor/Technical Writer (DocBook/DITA specialist)

MANDIANT is looking for a motivated, experienced editor to transform legacy documentation into live content using a modern documentation technology. The candidate will participate in selecting an appropriate technology then will update and compose new content for our latest enterprise security product release. Prospects will be asked to provide samples from a portfolio and may need to perform a practical demonstration of writing skills during the selection process.
REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong writing, editing, and language skills, grammar expertise, attention to detail
  • Experience with a documentation authoring system that separates content from presentation such as Docbook with XSL Stylesheets
  • Experience authoring and publishing content with multiple targets, including printed manuals and web-based documentation
  • Experience with imaging software (Photoshop, Gimp), and its use in capturing, editing, and publishing screen captures for software documentation
  • Experience with diagraming software such as Visio or Omnigraffle
  • Familiarity with XML, HTML, or other markup languages
  • Understanding of version control software for content management and direct hands-on experience with a version control system such as RCS, CVS, Subversion/SVN or git

ADDITIONAL VALUED SKILLS

  • Functional understanding or experience with software engineering
  • Familiarity with Information Security and InfoSec technologies
  • Experience with online technical support services and software
  • Experience writing non-technical publications with different voice and focus; could include experience blogging or writing fiction/non-fiction

EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS or equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience for software or other technology products (samples required)
