Web Developer

Hey folks, we have an open position at WBGO Jazz 88.3. Many assume we are in New York City, and we are. But our studios are in Newark, NJ (better transmission to NYC that way).
Our studios are located in the arts district of Newark (real nice area actually, NJPAC, NJN, NJ Historical Society, Prudential headquarters, great food, park, yadda yadda), and we're but a hop on the PATH or NJ Transit from Manhattan.
Though we've posted this on our site, NPR and in print, I knew for this position MeFi was the place to post...
We are seeking an engaging, intellectually curious certain someone with strong communication skills and high energy to help us make a dynamic radio and online experience for music-lovers. This person must be open to creative thinking, team effort, and making something new every day.
That sounds like a MeFi reader no doubt. Here's what we need from you...
The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Website maintenance and design
* Maintenance and development of internal web applications
* Content Management System integration and development of Social Media applications
* Collaborate with production, design and project management resources to set requirements, establish time frames, test and complete site development projects on schedule
* Facilitate and enable online digital distribution strategies (RSS, blogger outreach, podcasts, etc.)
* Minor IT support
* Other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated technical proficiency with Web design and development, including HTML, PHP, ASP, CSS, XML, JavaScript, AJAX, MySQL
* Working knowledge of content management systems and blog software (Drupal, Wordpress, etc.)
* Content distribution techniques, including RSS, social media and APIs
* Flash and ActionScript
* Minimum of two years full-time work experience developing online tools, features and community elements for online news sites
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
* Excellent critical thinking skills that demonstrate independent judgment and decision-making
* Ability to prioritize and handle several projects at once
Salary DOE plus benefits.
No phone calls please. Please contact me at mefi@bluedaniel.com, dkarcher@wbgo.org, or send a letter and resume direct to our Operations Director - David Tallacksen at dtallacksen@wbgo.org.
WBGO is an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to maintaining a diverse workforce and actively encourages applications from a broad spectrum of applicants including minorities and women.
payscale: Salary DOE plus benefits.
job type: full-time
