U.S. Education Consultant
January 19, 2012 10:10 AM
YOU: One of those talented, twenty-something, unemployed, overeducated, creative and fun types currently lounging about the U.S. waiting for that next adventure. Not afraid of pho, and charmed at the thought of working in a low-English environment, you’re ready to travel to Hanoi and start teaching our Vietnamese students. English, history, government, even SAT prep--it’s all in your wheelhouse.
US: A small startup firm with offices in Nebraska, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (and coming this summer, Portland!). Educational consulting is our business, and our clients range from some of the largest four-year U.S. universities to the teensiest boarding high schools. We help institutions recruit international students, and help those students pass their immigration exams. We also help them level up their English, which is where you come in. You'd be the 15th member of our growing team, and only our second teacher based in Vietnam.
THE PERKS: $30,000 salary per year; free accommodation in an apartment above the office; roundtrip airfare to/from Vietnam; and dirt-cheap living expenses. Plus, there’s ample opportunity to travel (for work!) within the country.
THE CATCH: There’s a 1 year contract for this position--not so bad at all! Also, you’ll need to bring your own laptop computer.
QUALIFICATIONS: More than a mere teacher, we’re looking for someone with ambition and a desire to get off the dole and work. We prize flexibility and commitment. We need a self-motivated team player who can seize the initiative to plan for both one-on-one and group classes. There’s a lot of responsibility, and you get to own it. People with limited teaching experience are welcome to apply.

E-mail me with a paragraph explaining why you want to move to Vietnam and we’ll take it from there.
