Flash/Flex Developer

Sway, Inc., a leading social media company in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a talented Flash/Flex Developer with at least 4 years of experience, bending Flash in every way possible. The potential candidate must be exceptionally proficient with ActionScript and the standard Flash/Flex production methods.
 
The Flash/Flex Developer role bridges the creative and technical aspects of project delivery. They develop and implement designs technically according to creative and art direction. They will be developing and maintaining coding standards to achieve efficiency in maintenance and portability. This position will work with designers to bring application from wireframe to production implementation. He or she will be monitoring and assessing the ActionScript code written by other team developers. They will also aim to achieve a good understanding of business objectives and be able to translate them into technical design and implementation.
 
Responsibilities:
Development, testing, implementation and maintenance of Flash, Flex and ActionScript based components and applications in a team environment.
Execute through code complex designs that reflect the creative and art direction provided within the established technical framework
Create all coded Presentation Layer deliverables
Work as a team member on large accounts, understanding how a team operates and what is expected of the various roles on the project
Shift between a creative and a technical focus depending on the project need and/or the type of project
Establish front-end technology requirements
Rapidly produce interim deliverables (such as style guide components, technical specifications, prototypes, proofs of concept, etc.) in addition to the final live site or application.
Participate in writing detailed level technical and functional specifications documentation
Take initiative to research and learn emerging technologies.
 
Requirements:
At least 4 years of experience required, college education a plus.
A solid understanding of AS 3.0 and the Flex Framework is required. (2.0 acceptable but most projects are in AS3), including OOP concepts.
Knowledge of XML data exchange and programmatic tweening and animation.
Preference is given to candidates that have a working knowledge of Flash 8 component-based production, Flash Remoting, Flash Communication Server, Flash video delivery, Flash Media Server, Director/Flash integration and JavaScript/Flash integration.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a creative environment and possess the drive to produce clean and lightweight code.
User Interface Design, Information Architecture, graphic design experience a plus
Experience developing and testing across multiple browsers, platforms, DOM implementations, etc
Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and scope development work
Strong attention to detail
Strong written & oral communication skills
Ability to perform in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Adept at creating practical solutions to daily business challenges
Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects and processes simultaneously.

Compensation:
Compensation for permanent full-time Sway, Inc. employees includes base salary, incentive rewards (bonuses), the possibility of earned stock option grants and standard benefits including enrollment health, dental, short term/long term disability and 401(k) plans. Extended vacations and flexible working hours also comes with the job. Compensation for this position will be commensurate with skills and experience.
