Web Designer and Developer
October 21, 2009 11:26 AM

The History Workshop at Brockington and Associates is seeking a Web Designer and Developer based in our Norcross, GA office. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and should have at least two years experience designing and developing Web sites.

Applicants should be experts at creating usable, standards-compliant, valid HTML and CSS Web sites by hand (not Dreamweaver). Applicants should be well versed in Flash and should have an excellent portfolio including both Flash and non-Flash sites.

Applicants should have a love of history and an interest in education. Graphic design skills are preferred, as is experience with JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and Ajax. Most of all, though, we are looking for a quick learner with creativity, a sense of humor, and an ability to keep the big picture front and center.

We are looking for someone with a good balance between "right brain" skills and "left brain" skills. We want someone who can delve deeply into code, but who can also collaborate with a team to design an interactive museum game, and who can talk intelligently to clients. Applicants must be able to work independently without intensive supervision: for the right candidate, this will be a feature, not a bug.

Day to day tasks include meeting with clients, working with project managers and the rest of our design team to develop concepts, working independently to develop Web sites and interactive elements, and working with IT staff to assess needs and solve problems.

Starting salary is competitive and is based on education and prior experience with potential for significant advancement, including potential training to be a project manager. In addition to salary, we offer benefits, including health insurance, 401k, and paid vacation.

Brockington and Associates is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants and employees are treated without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, veteran status, or disability.

In your application, please include a link to your online portfolio, or links to at least three sites you have created. Please tell us your role in creating these sites. You may include this information in the application itself, in a resume uploaded with the application, or as a separate document uploaded with the application. We cannot consider applicants without online work samples.
