Network Specialist

Under the supervision of the Network and Support Manager, responsible for: designing, implementing and maintaining CEI network and computer infrastructure. Responsibilities include hardware and software related to communications; NetWare, Windows and any other Servers; backup systems; client installation software; creation and maintenance of standard PC "builds" and similar duties. Also provides advanced trouble-shooting for complex problems, and end-user HelpDesk support as needed. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and administering daily, weekly and monthly activities that promote a healthy network. Functions include fixing any issues with opening and closing procedures, running DS repairs, tape restores, testing UPS hardware/software, audits on user accounts, securing the network of viruses and vulnerabilities. Undertakes projects to upgrade and/or repair to network software and hardware infrastructure. Responsible for performing project research, creating a project plan and schedule, and successfully implementing the project according to schedule.
Two year degree in Computer Science, Computer Electronics, or similar computer degree required. Education requirement may be waived for 2-3 years of Network Design Administration job experience and\or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2000 or higher) Certifications. A minimum certificate of Certified Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP 2000 or higher) required.
