I work with creative arts & media productions, community cultural development, and education to explore ideas around community, identity, liminality, belonging, and social justice. I am highly skilled at building bridges and connections across cultures and demographics, adapting to quickly-changing circumstances, taking initiative, working with new media and technology, researching resources and networks, and producing in multiple creative and media forms.
I have worked across the US, Australia, and multi-nationally through projects such as:
* Flag Stories, a collaboration between SOMArts San Francisco and Islamic Arts Museum in Kuala Lumpur for youth to co-create digital media and visual arts projects around identity and citizenship
* Suicide's Requiem, a dance-theater production by Eclipse Dance Theater incorporating developmental dance technique (by director Samantha Blanchard) into interviews with suicide survivors and Mozart's Requiem to increase awareness of suicide and mental health
* Slutwalk, an international campaign fighting against slut-shaming and victim-blaming of survivors of sexual violence based on their attire or behavior
* Megaherzzz, a weekly radio magazine show on Brisbane's 4zzzFM community radio station focused on feminist and women's issues as well as female-fronted music and art
* A summer arts residency with CELLSpace San Francisco, creating a one-woman show using burlesque, performance art, and video to comment on being a queer female migrant minority
I have just graduated with an MFA in Creative Inquiry from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where I also was part of the Center for Writing and Scholarship Fellowship (for pedagogy and practical experience in college-level academic tutoring).
I am currently seeking work opportunities in the United States, particularly the San Francisco Bay Area, starting late August 2014, that feature a combination of creativity, education, community development, and travel.
