I'm working on behalf of a privately funded, for-profit internet start-up dedicated to bringing sustainability issues to the mainstream. We have a fun and exciting working environment and a passionate and dedicated team.
We are looking for a talented Java/Web/Linux developer. This is a job for individuals with strong sense of quality, professionalism and high standards.
You will work within a highly collaborative engineering team that uses cutting-edge technology and modern programming development paradigms to create social networking and other media applications that can help scale the green movement.
Responsibilities include all parts of our Java web application development, including architecture, design, database, Java back-end coding, and browser front-end technologies. We are considering both senior and junior developers for this role. You should have experience with open-source technologies, databases, and web applications, including knowledge of software best practices, performance, and design.
Requirements:
-B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; solid understanding of computing concepts.
-Must be comfortable with Linux, including configuration of web servers and applications.
-Can manage an off-shore team of developers/QA
-Must be comfortable in extreme-programming environment
-Solid understanding of database design
-Solid understanding of core Java
-Fully versed in web technologies (HTTP protocol, HTML, CSS, web servers)
-Professional attitude, Attention to details, Explorative mind and High Quality coding
Minimum 2 years of actual work experience in the following:
-Programming in Java
-SQL and JDBC, preferably MySql
-JSP / Servlets
-Apache web server or Servlet containers (Tomcat, Resin)
-Javascript, including third party framework such as YUI, Prototype, JQuery
-Able to design and implement extensible, componentized HTML and CSS.
-Knowledge of CSS best practices and third party CSS libraries.
-Web application framework such as Struts, Tapestry, or JSF -Object-relational mapping tools such as OJB, Hibernate, or Toplink
-Design patterns
-Software architecture, modular design, and solid Object Orients understanding.
Bonus skills:
Basic Photoshop/GIMP skills - you can create web-ready graphics from layered psd files
Hands on experience with SEO
