Content Developer/Interpretive Planner

Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA), a museum exhibit design and planning firm, is currently offering an opportunity for a senior content developer.The Content Developer’s role on RAA projects is to perform a variety of tasks from the concept stage to final design. In addition to working with curators and others outside consultants to clearly define and shape the story the exhibits will tell, they write concepts, exhibit descriptions, interactive and other media treatments, content outlines, script outlines and the exhibit script. They act as primary liaison between museum curators and the design team. Lead role in working with project directors and the project’s scholarly and/or curatorial bodies to develop content and work closely with the project teams to develop design. Requires specific knowledge of project content or research ability to obtain scholarly knowledge of the content and strong writing skills.
Responsibilities:
* Conceptualization, planning, research, development, and writing of all visual and text presentations.
* Consult and work with curators, scholars and specialists in the
development of exhibit content.
* Review all content material provided by clients.
* Conduct research of graphic materials for projects such as images, videos, audio recordings, and historical artifacts.
* Develop, write and present exhibit ideas, audiovisual concepts and graphic elements.
* Review text and visual content included in graphic panels,
audiovisuals and interactive software prepared by designers and
audiovisual producers.
* Coordinate and liaise with clients regarding content and
implementation of projects.
Requirements:
* Ability to present complex ideas and design concepts clearly.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database,
scheduling and presentation software.
* Science and journalism background.
