Seeking an application developer with strong programming skills in PHP and MySQL, as well as experience with JavaScript, and CSS to update to current standards the code for the Georgia Tech Critical Languages Song Project, a site dedicated to innovative teaching of advanced Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian language and culture through the prism of song. The Critical Languages Song Project was a U.S. Department of Education sponsored multi-year initiative to radically restructure language and culture pedagogy for advanced undergraduates in critical-need languages by combining a specially tailored web-accessible computer interface with innovative pedagogy. Approx. 18,000 SLOC. Sample of code available upon request. http://www.clsp.gatech.edu/Song_Project/

Required:
* Experience in modern PHP coding (versions 5.6 and 7.1+). Preferable to be able to demonstrate previous project work experience.
* Understanding of MySQL database driven PHP web applications and the MySQL query language.
* Ability to deal with legacy PHP code written 2010-2012 and upgrade it to current PHP 7 standards (MySQLi or PDO)
Preferred:
* Knowledge of modern UI/UX design (usability) and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
* Familiarity with a Linux based operating system environment. Website in question is hosted on a Ubuntu Linux Server running under the Apache web server system.
