Chief 3D Game Artist
March 7, 2011 11:57 AM
Hit the Sticks, LLC (located in Bryn Mawr, PA) is making a multiplayer-only first-person shooter, designed for online competitive play. We're hiring a 3D artist to lead the art effort for the project. We're an indy game studio, and this is a full-time position with salary and benefits.
The ideal candidate will have a deep technical and creative understanding of 3D animation, specifically as it relates to the challenges of real-time rendering for games. The candidate will be energetic and creative, comfortable working in close collaboration with colleagues of different disciplines, but also capable of generating great work without oversight.
The successful applicant will be responsible for generating all types of art assets, from character design and animation to materials and textures to level building. He or she will be responsible for the entire art process, from concept art to polished final asset. He or she will also be responsible for creating materials scripts for the Ogre3D graphics engine, as well as interacting with version control--training will be provided for both of these responsibilities.
This is an opportunity for you to get in at the very beginning of the game design process. You'll have primary control over the visual direction of this project, and substantial input on the gameplay design. We're looking for a collaborative partner who can and will add his or her visual signature to the product; not just a monkey to operate Maya.
Qualifications:
* 2+ years of academic or industry experience with Autodesk Maya
* Technical knowledge of import/export/exchange file formats
Bonus Items:
* Mathematical understanding of 3D art processes
* Experience writing GLSL shaders
* Basic programming skills
Applicants should send resumes and links to online portfolios.
payscale: competitive
job type: full-time
