The Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) is the nation's leading organization of people who believe the war on drugs is doing more harm than good. We fight for drug policies based on science, compassion, health and human rights. We work to ensure that our nation’s drug policies no longer arrest, incarcerate, disenfranchise and otherwise harm millions of people, especially people of color, simply for what they put into their own bodies.
DPA has 46 staff, and is supported by 26,000 dues-paying members and 50,000 online members. The San Francisco Office, one of eight offices in four states and the District of Columbia, focuses on local San Francisco policies and promotes reality-based approaches to drug education for young people.
