Develop and implement Internet systems in support of major international auctions house's business needs. Major responsibilities include program/module analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation. Maintains and supports existing systems. Required strong working knowledge of Java, Oracle RDBMS, HTML, and UNIX. CSS, AJAX, STRUTS and Perl are pluses.

Communicates regularly with project manager and end-users on program/module requirements. Strong problem-solving skills required for resolving systems support issues. Structured work habits and good personal time management to effectively utilize the systems development methodology.

1. Works with project manager and end-users to analyze, design, code, test and document new programs/modules that provide the end-user with information to enhance the operations of the business. Specific skills include ability to develop system/integration specifications, and object-oriented design and coding.

2. Consults with project manager and users to implement enhancements to existing systems to satisfy changing business requirements.

3. Using effective problem-solving techniques, supports and recovers systems due to production problems to minimize the impact to the department or business.

4. Responsible for ensuring the quality of programs and systems. This includes the design and development of efficient, effective, object oriented programs/modules that adhere to Sotheby’s standards.

5. Works with project manager to estimate time requirements for project assignments. Organizes tasks and personal time to complete multiple, diverse assignments within the scheduled timeframe. Coordinates efforts with other IT personnel to ensure effective systems implementation.

6. Maintain knowledge of business systems through regular communications with the users to provide support.

7. Maintain proficiency in information technology and tools to enhance productivity and quality of systems development.

8. Participate in IT quality improvement teams to develop departmental procedures and standards.
