Create a Quick Script
July 7, 2015 12:03 PM
I have a script that every hour downloads a zipped archive of xml pages to my hard drive. This is so I can backup a project I'm helping with.
99% of the archives are identical, which wastes disk space. I want a script I can run in OS X's Terminal which will find and trash all non-unique archives in the specified folder (saving the oldest).
I've tried dupe finder apps, but the folder within the archive (containing the xml files) always has a unique name (due to time/date stamp), and that's enough to make most algorithms think all the archives are unique.
I'm figuring it's a pretty quick job for someone technical, hence the low pay. We'll see how I do, I suppose....
