Clinical Sidekick

I'm a physician with a practice focused on palliative care. I make house calls in Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn & Queens, and in Princeton, NJ to the medically fragile and patients at the end of life. I'm looking for a crackling good assistant who will travel with me, keeping things in line. While I'm seeing patients and talking to families and caregivers, you would be taking notes, dealing with orders, updating medication lists, returning phone calls, scheduling visits, that kind of thing.
Medical background helpful (for a number of reasons, but not least of which is the potential grossness of various situations - you need to have a stomach for that). I'm looking for an upbeat, energetic, flexible person with a sense of humor and real enthusiasm for the work. If you're interested in pursuing medicine or nursing as a career or, hell, if you're already trained, that would be fantastic. But at the end of the day, it's the personality fit that's most important.
The ideal candidate will have a strong physical and emotional constitution, good intuition and organization, as well as courage, curiosity, and tolerance (if not ardor) for adversity. At the end of the day it’s spiritual work. If you think you’d enjoy that then we should talk.
After the initial break-in period compensation and benefits will increase reliably over time. Basically, the more productive I am, the more money you will make. I will be happy to discuss details when we meet.
Please email your resume and a cover letter with salary requirements and any other details you consider of interest. If the job sounds exciting to you let me know why. Thank you for your time.
payscale: $40,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
job type: full-time
