Dictation support for an AMA event
January 22, 2014 3:43 PM

I'm a woodblock printmaker, and am planning an upcoming AMA event on Reddit. It will be a bit different from the typical AMA in that we plan to run a concurrent webcam stream together with the normal threaded discussion on the Reddit site. (People will be able to see a print being made while the Q&A is happening.)

An outline of the proposed AMA is here. As you can see in that outline, to pull this off I will need assistance from somebody who can watch the webcast stream while monitoring the AMA threads, feed me questions (via IM, perhaps), listen to my reply/commentary, extract the appropriate sections from this, and quickly type it up and post it (using my Reddit ID) in the relevant spots in the thread.

We expect the thing to last perhaps two hours; I have no idea how busy it will get. Questions may be few and far between, or may come fast and furious all the way through the process of the print being made. It might end up being a very exhausting couple of hours ...

(Perhaps we should have a 'rehearsal' first? Not sure ...)

As for timing, we're thinking to try this in the first week of February (there's too much stuff on my desk this week to handle this right now). We would like to choose a time where most of North America is awake, and if we can squeeze in Europe too it would be great, which would imply using one of these two starting times:
- 1am Japan time, 8am west coast US, 11am east coast US, and 4pm or so for Europe
- 7am Japan time, 2pm west coast US, 5pm east coast US, and 10pm or so for Europe

Anyway, if you're interested, please let me know! Thanks!
