Entry level position in PETA's Cruelty Investigations Department - telecommuting OK

Position Objectives:
To assist the Intake & Assessment Division in assessing and handling inquiries from the general public relating to domestic-animal and wildlife-cruelty issues
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assist with evaluating incoming telephone calls and e-mails and provide the required responses or refer callers to the appropriate staff members
• Provide research support on miscellaneous cruelty-to-animals and animal-neglect issues
• Handle cruelty-to-animals and animal-neglect cases
• Maintain confidential files, correspondence files, case reports, and other departmental reports
• Handle Community Animal Project calls and check in surrendered animals
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field
• Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
• Ability to handle calls from the public in a calm and professional manner
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Proven excellent writing and research skills
• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to advocate professionally for PETA's positions on issues
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
