Screen Print Production 4-month Internship (paid)

This 4 month paid internship will introduce the intern to all basic aspects of screen printing T-shirts, from art through screen making and production.
Art:
Basics of color separating and output of film positives in both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Understand the uses and application of halftones, including dot-gain adjustment.
Page layout for efficient & consistent screen placement.
Screens:
Proper mesh selection.
Screen coating with direct photo emulsion.
Photo stencil exposure and development.
Stretching and maintenance of mesh on roller frames.
Final screen prep for production.
Reclaiming screens for re-use with new photo stencils.
Production:
Learn operation of M&R automatic presses.
Troubleshooting a screen print -- 1001 things that can go wrong, and how to recognize and avoid them.
Basics of press maintenance.
Setup & registration of jobs by hand and with M&R Tri-loc pin registration system.
Criteria for proper squeegee selection.
Ink prep & mixing.
Scheduling and record-keeping for accurate and repeatable production.
General shop operation, including inventory, organization and expediting.
Skills
We're looking for someone who likes to make quality things, works hard and is enjoyable to be around. If you can't crank though a full day of non-stop production without getting cranky, this is not the place for you. We will teach you what you need to know in order to produce excellent and beautiful screen printed shirts.
This is a physical, not-at-a-desk kind of job. You must be able to lift at least 30 pounds from the ground to table height and stay on your feet all day (not including breaks & lunch). You must be able to see the color spectrum normally visible to the human eye.
