The Department of Education and Early Development is searching for an outstanding individual to join our small Business Applications Team. We are looking for someone that wants to play an important role in ensuring the success of Alaska’s students, to help improve academic achievement for all students through improved data collection and reporting made necessary with the No Child Left Behind Act, and, equally important, someone with a curious, inquiring mind that desires growth and exposure to new education technologies and practices that our Department's Statewide Longitudinal Data System has been built upon.

Key skills and abilities we are looking for include:

* Software development expertise
* Relational database expertise
* Familiarity with Data Warehouse technologies
* Expertise defining user requirements
* Expertise designing and writing system specifications
* Expertise with web application development and maintenance

Technologies currently in use in the department include a data warehouse, web services, MS Visual Studio, MS SQL Server 2005, ColdFusion, HTML, DHTML, XML, Visual Basic, Flash CS3, AJAX, C#, .NET, SharePoint 2007, IIS, Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, and MS SQL Analysis Services.
