Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general direction, collects, evaluates and analyzes complex sales data and economic conditions to measure the attainment of sales objectives. Prepares sales forecasts, recommends quotas for sales representatives, and advises on changes in promotional efforts. Responsible for complex sales and service reporting. Provides complex analytical support to sales and service organizations. This position can be located in San Francisco or New York
· Revenue analysis:
o CPM analysis by page / section of the site
o Work with product team to optimize RPM. (assist with A/B testing analysis)
o CPC performance analysis, for example of the Rate Finder tool
o Work with product team to optimize CTR. (assist with A/B testing analysis )
o CTR analysis of cpc ads by page / section of the site (also applies to email campaigns)
o Work with product team to optimize CTR. (assist with A/B testing analysis )
o Provide data analysis support for SEO efforts
o Provide data analysis support for potential SEM efforts
· Traffic analysis:
o Path analysis of user traffic (exit page analysis, traffic flow through site, etc )
o Identify traffic trends (seasonality, etc ) – this may involve competitive / market analysis
· Community / Content analysis:
o Most popular destinations (by page views and/or content submission)
o Analysis of content submission and/or read patterns
· Reporting:
o Identify gaps in current reporting; work with team to enhance data collection; create dashboards;
o Assist team with defining / improving daily reporting metrics
· Competitive analysis
o Provide analytical support for special projects / competitive analysis
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years related experience preferred. Advanced computer software skills. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Min. 2 years work experience in internet media related position. Strong Excel skills a must; Access and PowerPoint a big plus
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Self starter, strong communicator
· Passionate about mining data for patterns and answers.
· Ability to interact with diverse teams including development, data warehouse, finance, sales, marketing.
· Quick learner of tools to access, extract, and analyze data – Cognos/data warehouse for booking data; DoubleClick for ad operations; WebTrends/Visual Sciences for site traffic; etc,
· Familiarity with web industry related publications and reports such as Media Metrix
· Strong MS Excel skills; MS Access and PowerPoint a strong plus;
· Web analytics superstar who can track page-by-page performance through all our LOB and content paths
· Ability to analyze customer behavior based on links selected, pages viewed,
· Strong correlative ability (e.g., does having more images drive increased hotel revenue/sales performance?)
· Creative thinker who can identify new ways to look at reporting, web analytics, content data, and revenue data
· Experience generating data and analysis that drive increased partner/supplier value
· Ability to understand impact of search as a traffic driver
· Knowledge of media revenue models
