Perch gives personalized financial insights that help optimize a buyer's path to homeownership, taking on housing affordability issues across the country. Once we help them become a homeowner, we enable them to build wealth by putting their home equity to work. All of this is made possible through a highly skilled network of professionals and our proprietary analytics platform.
We’ve grown to a fully remote team of 14 and have customers who have used (and loved!) our product. Our focus in 2022 is to crank up the volumes in the channels we’ve worked so hard to establish. We have recently closed a $1MM seed round, and are backed by industry leaders in the real estate tech space.
Our Stack
Angular
NodeJS / ExpressJS
Webpack
Bootstrap
SASS
The Position
We are looking for a Lead Frontend Developer (CAD$120,000-150,000) interested in building responsive and progressive web apps. You should have a love for design, doing things the right way, and continuous learning. You will be responsible for establishing the frontend code design methodologies, delivering new features, and working closely with the design team to refine the design systems and design handoff process. Building a product (like the mortgage calculator, update mortgage rates page or build new mortgage tools) is a highly collaborative effort, and as such, a strong team player with a commitment to achievable perfection.
Who you are
You have a product first mentality
You obsess over perfecting the execution of designs with code
You love being able to share your opinions on designs
You want to do things the right way, not necessarily the easy way
You seek out ways to leverage industry standards, frameworks, and tools (where it makes sense), rather than always having to reinvent the wheel
Responsibilities
Bring expertise of design systems to guide both engineers and designers on best practices
Help set the methodologies followed for frontend development
Collaborate with other engineers and the Product team to define clear deliverables and establish project milestones
Take ownership of features from end to end by going through design, implementation, testing, and maintenance phases
Lead engineers by example and processes
Identify opportunities to improve existing code or architecture
Stay up to date with best practices and emerging technologies
Qualifications
5+ years of experience building JavaScript applications
Experience working as a designer for software applications is a plus
Care about quality, both in your product design and codebase
Deep understanding of ES6 and frontend frameworks (Angular and TypeScript are a plus)
Deep understanding of CSS, CSS preprocessors (e.g., SASS/LESS), and design frameworks (e.g., Material, Bootstrap, etc.)
Solid experience with code design methodologies (e.g., BEM)
Solid understanding of the full web stack (e.g., HTTP, headers, caching, etc.)
Belief in automated tests and taking ownership over the quality of your code
Experience working collaboratively, participating in code reviews and being a great teammate<
