The USGS Water Resources Mission Area is hiring three full time project managers (Physical Scientist GS-1301-12/13) in Madison, WI and Boise, ID. Salary ceiling is $115k and the position has no supervisory duties.

The USGS is the largest provider of in-situ water data in the world. Come join our interdisciplinary team that is committed to open code and delivering FAIR water data from a variety of providers.

As a Physical Scientist within the Integrated Information Dissemination Division, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Serve as lead on various projects pertaining to data and information delivery for natural science fields.
    Meet with customers, researchers, management, and technologists in the scientific and technical community to understand system requirements.

  • Develop innovations for enterprise water data systems.

  • Manage application development projects which support the science of the USGS mission.


Our teams use agile development methodologies, user-centered design, and industry standards for software development and UI/UX. Curiosity, persistence, and a passion for data and information are required.
