Reentry Coordinator

Background
In August 2016 the University of Baltimore launched the Second Chance College Program at Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) – a medium security prison for men located approximately 15 miles outside of Baltimore City. Students will study towards a bachelor degree in Community Studies and Civic Engagement. As of January 20, 2017 we have 30 students enrolled in the program. Many of our students will transition to UB within the next few years, and will complete their degree on campus. To ensure students have a successful transition home our program is in need of a reentry coordinator. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a reentry program for Second Chance students.
Job duties:
Assist in the development of reentry assessment and tracking instruments
Develop a reentry resource guide for students
Network and develop partnerships with local reentry programs
Meet weekly with incarcerated students to develop reentry plans
Serve as a case worker to students released to ensure reentry plans are implemented
Serve as an advocate and liaison between students and the various UB administrative offices (financial aid, student services, etc.)
Requirements:
Have a bachelor degree
Able to pass a background check to enter MD DPSCS prisons
Experience working with incarcerated and/or returning citizens
Be comfortable working in a prison environment
Preference will be given to those with:
A graduate degree (completed or in process)
Case management experience
Program implementation experience
Experience with, and/or knowledge of, reentry services in Baltimore City
Able to work with Access and develop a case management database
payscale: Salary: $21.00 an hour, 25 hours per week
