Project Details: The new website will feature the Meaningful Mediapedia, a comprehensive searchable database that aggregates and curates thousands of projects and organizations at the intersection of media and social change. Our company is developing a "websites for small businesses" type of product, using Wordpress MU. We've been in the print advertising industry for many years, but (incredibly) have only started offering internet advertising in the past 2-3 years. (Re)design a community site by yesterday

Needed: PHP/CSS/JavaScript/MySQL tinkerer to turn some off-the-shelf WordPress applications into a unified thing of beauty. Immediately. We're launching a web site for people to discuss and analyze some legal documents that have been in the news. No, not the AIG bonuses, but something that dense and that ought to be of the same public interest. There are a few people who understand how things fit together, and we want to turn them into a real community. The new site will bring them all together in one place on the web, have them share knowledge, mark up the legal documents with close commentary, and make it all explicable to the general public. We're building the site around WordPress plugins. CommentPress lets users have threaded discussions about individual paragraphs within a post. bbPress supplies us with discussion forums. We'll also have some blogs and static pages. We'd like a wiki. And, oh yeah, the site needs to launch within a couple of weeks. Right now, things are functional . . . but they also feel functional, rather than welcoming. There are unwanted scrollbars and ungainly, misshapen text-entry fields. The CommentPress and bbPress sections look nothing like each other. The different login interfaces aren't all integrated. You get the picture. There are a bunch of little things that are getting in the way of usability, and the site has zero personality. We've got a graphic designer working on a logo and basic branding, but we also need someone to do the web monkeying. Could that someone be you? It might well be if you . . .

Wordpress Plugin

I'd like to be able to sell access to sections of a Wordpress site on a per-category basis. For example, user A might purchase access to category 3, user B might purchase access to categories 2 and 5, and so forth. Some categories would be viewable to everyone. Posts in these restricted categories should also have a way of having files associated with them that are served up only when the user is logged in and has the appropriate permissions. I'd love to be able to create bundles (packages of categories for a discount, for example). I'd also like for purchase & account creation to be all on one screen and accomplished at the same time. I have a small budget, but the project it's for is neat enough that you might not mind the check isn't so huge (especially if you have some code you can reuse to limit your time investment). Mail me if you're interested and want more details, or if I need a reality check and my budget is off by at least a decimal point.

We're an award-winning design and advertising firm looking to expand our web team with a part-time developer. You'll be working on location in our Ann Arbor, MI office 15-20 hours a week as one of two geeks in an office full of designers and marketing experts. You'll have to be good at explaining technical issues to non-technical people and be an advocate for accessibility and website best practices. For some projects you'll be responsible for all the technical aspects of a website, from kickoff to site launch. You'll be doing these tasks:

Work with designers from early in the design cycle to provide feedback on comp direction
Develop templates for WordPress or Joomla, using HTML, CSS, JS, PHP and relevant framework methods
Design sitemaps and wireframes for new websites
Maintain the markup, CSS, script and content on existing websites
Help keep our Macs running and be part of the ad-hoc IT team

You must be ready to work in these things:

HTML
CSS
Javascript
PHP
MySQL

You should be comfortable with writing templates for WordPress from day 1. You may also be told to work in Joomla on occasion. Needless to say, web standards and accessibility are emphasized. The following skills are good to have but aren't necessary:

Familiarity with the jQuery library
Limited Unix/Linux administration experience
Mac administration experience
Familiarity with other LAMP-relevant languages (Perl/Python)

In reality, this is going to be a good fit for somebody with low to intermediate web dev skills who wants to work independently but not in isolation. moderately priced web designer to make minicomics website

I want to make a personal site to display and sell minicomics. I would like it to be nicer than what I can make using Googlepages, duct tape, and tears, but it doesn't have to be a masterpiece either. I'm thinking of a five-page brochure-style website with one of the "pages" being a wordpress/comicspress blog, and a front page where the "buttons" are drawings I made.

wordpress calendar plugin development

My non-profit indy media center's webpage is in need of a good events calendar. I've tried out every calendar plugin I can find, but I haven't been happy with any of them and my php skills are negligible. The main issue is making sure it's easy enough for all of our volunteers to add events and use it intuitively without much training. Here's what I'm looking for specifically: Ability for any user to add events quickly and easily via a link in the main WP dashboard navigation structure. Ability to have recurring events (ie. a meeting every Monday/or movie night every 3rd Friday.) A list of upcoming events in the sidebar with ajax-y popup box showing longer description. Description that includes: Title, Date/time, location which auto links to google map, and larger free form description field. A separate page for a full size calendar to display. Ability to link any event to any post. I will pay for this, but can't afford much; but if anyone out there is already interested in developing WP plug ins, I imagine other people would get a lot of use out of it too if it was released to the greater WP user community.

Quickie job here: Need a Wordpress plugin developed. What we need is an enhancement to the get_calendar functionality which is built into Wordpress (the clickable calendar in the sidebar). But it needs to have two specific features that the default functionality does not: (a) it needs to have an option to restrict output to one or more categories, and (b) it needs to have an option to suppress alt tags on the calendar itself. This needs to be developed as a widget-ized plugin, so that it can survive future upgrades to WP. Thanks!

I'm an web developer who often works with WordPress to roll out client sites. I currently have more work than I can manage to push out the door on schedule on my own, and am looking for someone to skin templates based on my designs. Which, happily, tend to be pretty straight forward. If you have a good working knowlege of CSS standards and are familiar with WordPress themes, none of this will be complicated. Very few of these are even require themes from scratch; layouts are often based on existing themes already in place. So if you're looking to pick up extra money and have a few hours a week, please let me know your hourly rate by email or MeMail along with some reference sites and we'll go from there. I'm using wordpress as a CMS of sorts, powering a growing site (with commenting features disabled.) It has a custom theme. I would like to add a discussion section, using phpbb3. I need someone to make my phpbb3 install look like the wordpress side of the site, and use an integrated (or at least the appearance of integration) header/footer. Convert design into WordPress theme

I need somebody who can convert a single web page design into a working WordPress 2.3.x theme. The design will be delivered in a sliced Photoshop file. You need to be prepared to create as much of the look in well-formed XHTML and CSS as possible. No tables, no frames, and no more graphics or Flash than are necessary. You need to understand columns, boxes, styled text, tight code, cross-browser issues, and consistency. You will use dummy text where the WordPress-specific tags will go and someone else will replace them with working code later, but the styling information must already be in place. In order to apply, you must have an online portfolio. Do not apply if you cannot adhere absolutely to the deadlines. The work begins November 8th and must be complete by November 16th, with no leeway whatsoever. All revisions must also happen before November 16th. This is for a non-profit startup: there is a small, inflexible budget for this: $500, including two rounds of revisions.

wordpress coding help, small, one time job

Attempting to create drop down/pop-up/hover/whatever menus has completely broken my brain. I'm designing a website for a friend and they like my general layout but they want the menus to drop down with further links. I'm having a hard time coding this and getting them to look right with wordpress. If anyone has the skills to do this for me I will pay you whatever you think is fair for what should probably be a fairly quick task for someone other than me.
