Specialist in Legislative Information Systems Management

"The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Office of Legislative Information (LIN) seeks a Specialist in Legislative Information Systems Management to plan, design, develop, test, implement, support, maintain, evaluate, and enhance the Legislative Information System of the U.S. Congress ("the LIS") website. The person selected for this position will provide project leadership and develop long-range plans and recommendations for the strategic direction of the LIS in support of the CRS mission. Duties include working with stakeholders to provide strategic planning, customer support, system design, and technical evaluation activities for the LIS and congressional and CRS users of the LIS."

That's the official blurb <a href="http://jobview.usajobs.gov/getjob.aspx?OPMControl=1672218&rc=8&TabNum=1">from USAJOBS</a>. I'm not on the hiring committee or anything, but I do know the folks you'd be working with, so let me know if you have questions. The job would be perfect for a librarian with technical skills, and legislative experience would definitely be a plus.

Need a web designer to help me with my site

I thought I could do it alone . . .

I used iWeb to create a website for my practice. Looks great (I think) in safari &amp; firefox, but my heart sank when I looked at it in IE. (Just learning now about problems with CSS in IE. . . )

Would you be willing to look at my site and give me a price for IE translation?

<a href="http://web.mac.com/pomerton/The_Visiting_Doctor,_PC/Welcome.html">here is the site</a>

Many thanks!

I need a new website for my business.

Nothing fancy. I own two pet stores in Seattle, WA. We haven't updated our site (www.petsenergy.com) since we expanded and it's hopelessly obsolete. We don't need anything cutting edge but we definitely need to upgrade it. I am open to any creative ideas. We of course will provide all the copy and photographs, etc. We also need to make our store more prominent when people search on the web. I've budgeted money for the job and would be pleased to supplement that with bartered pet food and supplies if that's feasible. Thanks!

Web designer (single project)

Need someone to set up a website for a Halifax-based comedy troupe (Picnicface) who are starting to get moderately popular on the net. Right now our site looks like this:

http://www.picnicface.com/

We'd like to make it look more professional and give it a "cleaner" look (<a href="http://www.vancouverimprovfest.com/">This</a> for example, but without flash), have embedded videos, pictures, possibly a "store" section, and we're willing to pay some money for this. However, we don't have a lot.

I'm asking in this forum because I've been a member of MeFi for a while (under a different name, I want to keep my real name and MeFi name separate) and I know there are lots of web-savvy people here. I figure it might be a good thing for someone's website portfolio. You never know, we may hit it big one of these days...

A bit of basic web coding--probably PHP and DHTML

I need a page that is a form where people can write an email and click send and it's sent to a specified address. Simple enough. However, I also need:

- to have a checkbox that says "CC blahblah" and when that box is checked, it also CCs the letter to blah blah and when the box is NOT checked, it doesn't CC blah blah but it does send an email to blah blah to tell them that a letter was sent so that they can keep track of how effective the campaign is.

Further, I need a "Sample" letter to toggle when the person clicks "View/Hide Sample Letter".

That's it. us$100 flat sent via Paypal. (I'm just guessing that this is probably 20 - 60 minutes work for someone who knows what they're doing but if I'm wrong and way off on the pay, pls let me know.)

Must work within Expression Engine (which allows all PHP to be run) and on a Dreamhost server. Must be done by Monday, May 14.

Whenever I've posted jobs like this before, I've gotten great response. If you want to do the job, pls let me know why I should pick you as 20 "I'll do it!" letters all look the same.

Questions? Bring 'em on!

(volunteer) Ruby On Rails coder with GD or RMagick experience

I've got an idea for a site, but I don't want to develop it all on my own. I do have experience with RoR and command-line Imagemagick, but I'm not fantastic with either. I'd WAG (wild ass guess) 2 person weeks of coding effort, but there is no rush for that.

I don't want to go into the details of the project here, because I'd rather it be publicly released (as a Project on this site) properly when it's ready. Assuming it gets completed and there are ads one the site, I'll gladly split 50-50 whatever comes out of it.
