Wanted: Video game programmers (UI and VFX) familiar with Unity

Any programmers out there familiar with Unity interested in working on a 2½D (2D gameplay, 3D graphics — think Street Fighter IV) fighting game being made by an independent publisher? Gameplay is already fairly well into development, but the creators are looking to add another programmer or two who are familiar with Unity to work mainly on UI implementation (menus, player records, netplay, etc.) and in-game visual effects. Both are contractor-into-full-time positions. Please send a cover letter to jobs@sirlingames.com along with résumé, portfolio, etc.

Contract 3D Artist Needed

Looking for a 3D artist who wants to work on an unannounced indie virtual reality game. The work is mainly environmental / structural / props with some visual effects, but it's early enough in the process that you'll also do some discovery & concepts with the designers.

You must:
- Be local
- Have a portfolio
- Be able to talk to me about your portfolio
- Be able to accept feedback and collaborate
- Have experience with Unity3D
- Be flexible about meeting with the team in the evening at least once a week
- Have and use your own equipment / computer / etc

Bonuses:
- Comfortable with shaders
- Familiarity with VR hardware
- Enjoy world building
- Loved the game Portal
- Willing to attend events (unpaid) with the team

This is part-time contract work. The project's end date is tentatively set for Q1 of 2016. THIS IS A PAYING JOB. (Yes, really!)

We would love to give a less experienced 3D artist or recent grad the opportunity to break into the industry, so don't be shy.

Contact me with your portfolio and a brief but genuine introduction that tells me something about your personality.

8-Bit Logo Needed for Video Game Lawyer

Looking for a 3-5 day turnaround on an 8-bit, color logo of Themis, goddess of law (blindfolded and holding the scales of justice) on the behalf of a SoCal video game lawyer.

In addition to Themis, lawyer also seeks straightforward text logo with which to advertise his law practice. (Have examples to guide you)

Ideal outcome is that Themis logo is easily integrated with straightforward law logo.

$300 for this week turnaround of both (300dpi each, eps format preferable).

Please message me with samples of your preferably 8-bit work or referrals to anyone you would recommend by 6pm June 10th. Thanks!

Publicist for interstellar summit & video game jam

This is a contract position to publicize Starship Congress, "the first-ever interstellar space science summit for interstellar space science organizations and advocates", in Dallas, TX, this August. Another publicity aspect is "INTERSTELLAR", a game jam centered around the OUYA game system and Unity3D game engine.

Are you a publicist about science-fiction and/or video gaming? That's key here. Do you have a developed media list? Also key.

Starship Congress is founded by space science non-profit Icarus Interstellar. Featured guests include TED Fellow Dr Rachel Armstrong, NASA scientist Dr Harold "Sonny" White, gravity-assist pioneer Dr Michael Minovitch, and pretty much every interstellar space organization on the planet.

The Icarus Interstellar sub-division FarMaker is producing "INTERSTELLAR" featuring Keynote speaker, science-fiction/video game art maestro Stephan Martiniere.

Starship Congress is a technical summit. There are representatives from all STEAM (science technology engineering art mathematics) disciplines.

Position lasts through August. Paid. Opportunity for further work.

Looking for a promotional writer for a game

We have a website for our game. The problem is all the words are made up gibberish.

If you could take that and replace it with actual words, so that people read the words and say "hey, this CYOA/Diablo game sounds stupendous and I will buy it right now," that would be ideal.

Looking to interview avid FPS players for academic research

Hi, I'm a UC Berkeley student researching FPS games for an undergraduate anthropology thesis. I'm looking for avid players and modders of FPS games from Doom (1993) onward. I'm interested in a wide range of games on PC and console, up to and including current-generation games such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2.

My project is quite broad at this point, so I'm open to all kinds of experiences and perspectives. I'm especially interested in modding communities, the history of Valve, and in-depth discussion of current-generation online gaming--but I'm interested in everything and I'd be glad to hear from you.

I can conduct an email interview, or I can travel to meet you in the Bay Area. You can contact me by MeFi Mail or call me if you'd like to meet in person. I would love the opportunity to talk to you.
