Fixed Income / Equity Research Associate

We are an institutional broker-dealer which trades high yield and distressed debt of U.S. and international issuers, convertible securities, and special situations equities.

We are seeking applicants for associate in our securities research department for a late-November/December interview/screening process and a late January/early February 2008 start. This position is a great place to begin, or reposition, a Wall Street career, with the potential for direct promotion to senior analyst or lateral moves into sales and trading. We support progress towards the CFA Charter and other professional development and securities industry registrations, as well.

We are interested in recent finance or accounting BA/BS graduates as well as holders of other degrees with solid analytical skills and 1-2 years of meaningful post-BA work experience.

Applications must include a cover letter in the body of the e-mail, a one-page resume in Word format (.doc), and a two-to-five page writing sample (on any subject; college papers acceptable).

We are a boutique securities brokerage.

We (electronically) publish securities research product on a daily basis, and require a multi-talented staffer who can copy-edit and format raw analyst product (Word text and Excel figures) into finished product, as well help us handle a high volume of changes to our distribution/customer lists. We currently generate our published PDFs from a variety of Word templates but are open to moving to a more sophisticated desktop publishing platform if the right person comes in to champion the transition.

We would like someone with relevant experience, a cheerful and flexible attitude, and an authentic interest in the world of finance. This is a mission critical position and requires someone with no problem with consistent attendance and an early start time (7:30 AM in midtown Manhattan).

There is definite opportunity for advancement into a junior professional research role for someone who succeeds in the specified responsibilities for a considerable period of time, but we'd be equally happy with someone with a permanent interest in this particular set of duties.
