Freelancer to build Ask.Meta-like site for small community

Looking for someone to build the code for a question and answer site for a small community. I'm currently leaning towards implementing Drupal, but open to persuasion for other base architectures.

Site should include functionality of the ask.metafilter site; developer should be familiar with its uses and implementation.

Looking for swift turnaround, with attention to detail and someone with an easygoing nature.

Location does not matter.

Note: This site is not intended to compete with ask.metafilter, but to service a specific community with narrow interests and expertise.

Symfony GUI Developer

I'm looking for assistance completing a GUI interface in a Symfony project. You would be working on an existing code base.

Multiple boxes are laid out using CSS driven from database values for height, width, X-position and Y-position, all of which are percentages of the parent box container.

You would implement:

* Save functionality: Users can interactively drag and drop boxes. Clicking a Save button should calculate new values for X and Y positions of all boxes, then update their associated database entries.

* Resize functionality: Create corner resize handles on boxes to allow users to interactively modify box height and width. Clicking a Save button would calculate new height and width values, then save them to the database.

Work would be entirely online, you would save your changes to an SVN branch. You should be familiar with the Symfony framework.

PHP Developer for Drupal Module

I am currently seeking a PHP Developer who has experience with Drupal, who would be able to create a new module and make it work with existing modules from Drupal.

I would like a module creating that lists stores and products.

These stores can be online or retails outlets. Each store page would contain relevant information like location, shipping details etc.

Each store would also list the products they sell. Be it "ProductA", "productB"

Each product will also have a page so "ProductA" would outline the product then lists all the stores this product is available at.

So going to a stores page would list all the products it sells

and going to a products page would list all the stores said product is available at.

I do not intent to actual sell the products myself just list the locations they products are available at.

If you have Drupal experience and are interested please send an e-mail to moochoo@gmail.com and I can give a more thorough outline.

One-off CSS/PHP job: Wordpress and phpbb3 customization

I'm using wordpress as a CMS of sorts, powering a growing site (with commenting features disabled.) It has a custom theme.

I would like to add a discussion section, using phpbb3.

I need someone to make my phpbb3 install look like the wordpress side of the site, and use an integrated (or at least the appearance of integration) header/footer.

I'm a bit out of my depth and I'd like to hire out to do this.

Please contact me with even a rough idea of how much you would charge for this project.

I'm happy to share more details and specs if needed, either by Mefimail or at fraser.birt@gmail.com.

I can also show you my site, phpbb install, and a working demonstration of what I'm after on another site.

One-off PHP/MySQL dev job

Looking for a price on a PHP development: a web-based song library manager/catalog.

Database should contain song titles, and information about each one (artist, album it appears on, trivia, one or more custom fields). Separate (linked) table for artists, to allow artist-specific trivia. Songs must be able to be assigned to user-defined categories (each song will appear in only one category).

User must be able to add songs one-at-a-time through an intuitive web interface, or batch upload through a tab-delimited file.

User must also be able to easily move songs from one category to another - perhaps drag-and-drop/Ajax? Perhaps lists with check boxes and "Move To ___" buttons? I'm open - I just want it to be extremely intuitive, so that virtually no documentation is necessary.

Administrative area needs to be password-protected (through a web form, not a simple htaccess lock). There also needs to be a public-facing display that allows users to browse the contents of the catalog without being able to make changes.

Database must allow for multiple users, preferably in the same MySQL database.

Please contact me via MeFi Mail with questions or with a price quote and estimated turnaround time. Thanks much!

Curverider produces web community platforms. We need people who can produce good code quickly for our latest project, code-named Searunner. Preferably, we want clued-in people who understand the web and its surrounding issues - MeFi members are a good fit!

In-house we code to a clean, procedural style; don't worry if you're not totally up to date with the latest features of PHP5 or object orientated code. That stuff, you'll need to be able to learn, but we're mostly interested in people who like to build things and make them work well. If you get a buzz from watching people come in and use something you've built, and you understand that the user is the most important part of any system, we want to hear from you.
