Responsibilities
&#8226; Optimizes visual design and concept in the internet or multimedia environment. 
&#8226; Visually expresses and integrates with information architect and editorial deliverables and technical specs from development and production groups. 
&#8226; Understands concept of complete project and is able to convey it to the client. 
&#8226; Adheres to agreed upon delivery schedule coordinated with Project Manager. Keeps Project Manager notified of any changes in schedule. 
&#8226; Communicates with the project team throughout all stages of design. 
&#8226; Signs-off that site has been correctly implemented by development to reflect final approved visual design. 
&#8226; Ability to work with a large variety of clients. 
&#8226; Ability to communicate and inform the project team members. 
&#8226; Solid understanding of client deliverables, and the ability to take responsibility for them.
&#8226; Specific knowledge of design tools for the online environment. 
&#8226; Ability to create superior, original designs for the Web. 
&#8226; Work in concert with creative team to design web applications that enrich client brand experience
&#8226; Develop elegant web solutions that perform appropriately and degrade gracefully in multiple browsers, platforms, and media types.

	<description>BrainLine, a new project funded by the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), is a national multimedia campaign that will disseminate authoritative information and increase public awareness about preventing, diagnosing, treating and living with traumatic brain injury. Over the past ten years, Learning Media has realized WETA&#8217;s commitment to education through national education services including websites, local and national television programs, and outreach and other activities to support them. The BrainLine website (www.BrainLine.org) will join the family of these award-winning national education websites produced by WETA: www.ReadingRockets.org, www.LDOnLine.org, www.ColorinColorado.org www.Learningstore.org, and www.AdolescentLiteracy.org. The website will be a major component of the project, along with webcasts featuring experts on brain injury, an electronic newsletter, print material, an outreach campaign, and research and development on a future public television program(s).

The Web Producer will play a vital role in the launch of BrainLine, and assist in the development, launch and management of other enhancements and services to the site. The Web Producer will thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment with tight and defined deadlines.

Requirements

    * Program and code website features as needed. Provide HTML, PHP, and Photoshop support for BrainLine.
    * Put content on website and keep it updated, so it operates effectively from a technical and user standpoint.
    * Manage electronic newsletter production, including scheduling, coding, distributing through Get Active, and preparing follow-up reports.
    * Coordinate online production of webcasts; provide technical expertise to BrainLine managers with scheduling and content development.
    * Answer customer emails.
    * Perform other duties and contribute to projects as assigned.

Qualifications

    * College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    * Minimum two years entry level experience in interactive design, user experience, digital media, information science, or related field.
    * Strong technical skills, including the ability to code using strict XHTML standards, knowledge of content management systems, Advanced PhotoShop skills, and programming skill in PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript.
    * Understanding of, and affinity for the use of open source software and APIs; experience in implementing Web 2.0 features.
    * Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to take direction from more than one manager.
    * Error-free writing and editing skills.
    * Mature and flexible with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in an environment of multiple projects, clients, and deadlines.
    * Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, energetic culture while producing high quality project deliverables on time and within budget.
    * Demonstrated organizational, project planning and time management skills with the ability to plan and organize work effectively.</description>

Teach web design classes (up to 14 students) using our curriculum. We are an evolving web design program in the Boston area that trains students in standards based design methods. Train students how to handcode pages using Xhtml and CSS positioning. Have a familiarity with Dreamweaver and be a Photoshop whiz. Lead discussions on elements of design and industry &#8220;best practices&#8221; for creating standards based websites. 

&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications for this position&lt;/strong&gt; - The candidate for this job must have superior organization skills. Preparing academic curriculum and developing lesson plans is an important part of this position. Documented teaching/training experience is helpful although flexible based on the individual.
- Be comfortable with handcoding websites using validated xhtml and css.
- Familiarity with Dreamweaver 8 very helpful.
- Must have a professional portfolio documenting your work.

These qualifications are not required but put you at the head of the list:- Familiarity with Javascript, PHP and Flash.
- Currently part of a web design practice in Boston or it&apos;s environs.
