Under the supervision of the Network and Support Manager, responsible for: designing, implementing and maintaining CEI network and computer infrastructure. Responsibilities include hardware and software related to communications; NetWare, Windows and any other Servers; backup systems; client installation software; creation and maintenance of standard PC "builds" and similar duties. Also provides advanced trouble-shooting for complex problems, and end-user HelpDesk support as needed. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and administering daily, weekly and monthly activities that promote a healthy network. Functions include fixing any issues with opening and closing procedures, running DS repairs, tape restores, testing UPS hardware/software, audits on user accounts, securing the network of viruses and vulnerabilities. Undertakes projects to upgrade and/or repair to network software and hardware infrastructure. Responsible for performing project research, creating a project plan and schedule, and successfully implementing the project according to schedule. Two year degree in Computer Science, Computer Electronics, or similar computer degree required. Education requirement may be waived for 2-3 years of Network Design Administration job experience and\or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2000 or higher) Certifications. A minimum certificate of Certified Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP 2000 or higher) required. The organization I work for is looking to hire a network engineer in the Los Angeles area, in San Francisco and in Minneapolis, MN. We're looking for a CCIE level candidate with 5+ years consistent experience in designing, deploying and supporting highly available networks. Candidates must have experience on Cisco based firewalls, switches, routers and load balancers. Candidates must hold a current CCIE certification number or have equivalent experience. Familiarity with F5 Networks and Citrix products is highly desirable. We're a consulting organization consequently candidates must be comfortable with travel (up to 25%), customer interaction, support of delivered products and the occasional session of strange hours in the interest of supporting the customer. We are a decentralized group of engineers, management is technical, most engineers telecommute if they don't have specific client or office commitments. The positions are unpaid, but you will get college or graduate school credit, and a foot in the door at a great TV network and a really great place to work. You'll get a lot of hands on experience with what it's like working in a digital media group at a network, and get to see your work make a real difference to our websites and online video offerings. We have a lot of projects on our plate -- new website features to build, new shows launching all the time, bugs to fix and tech support questions to track down, message boards to (lightly) moderate, online webisodes to cut and encode, reality show contestants to interview on camera for online bonus content, production company tapes to log for our tape library, photo galleries to cut and resize and upload, 50+ blogs to publish and oversee -- and not nearly enough people to do them! We can split this internship into one web development focused internship and one video editing focused internship, or we can grab one or two "jack of all trades" people. It depends on what skills you bring to the table.
