Senior PHP Developer for web dev firm

We (Synapse Studios) need a senior PHP developer with PHP 5/OO experience who can step in and help guide the growth we're expecting in the near-term. We've gotten along now for a few years with some great developers, but no one with structured experience who can bring our architecture and coding methodologies to the next level. That's who we're looking for. We're also looking for someone that knows how to write clean and efficient PHP5 object oriented code at the enterprise level. Here is a list of our "absolutely-must-have" requirements: * PHP 5 - object oriented experience * SQL knowledge: basic and advanced (i.e. stored procedures, views, triggers, etc) * HTML (can code by hand or in sleep) * Subversion or other version control systems * Some HTTP experience (you should know the difference between GET versus POST, what a 404 is versus a 200, 301 redirect, etc) * Regular expressions (at least able to understand them even if they give you horrible, horrible nightmares) * Model-View-Controller (MVC) experience (via frameworks such as Kohana, Zend, Cake, or Symfony for example) * AJAX by way of jQuery, YUI or any other popular libraries * Knowledge of design patterns * Apache and mod_rewrite experience * Linux system administration skills * Extensive Javascript and CSS knowledge * Experience with at least one other language (C, Perl, Java, Python, Ruby) * Using and writing APIs We need someone on site in Tempe, Arizona, but we're open to helping people relocate. I'm looking for assistance completing a GUI interface in a Symfony project. You would be working on an existing code base. Multiple boxes are laid out using CSS driven from database values for height, width, X-position and Y-position, all of which are percentages of the parent box container. You would implement: * Save functionality: Users can interactively drag and drop boxes. Clicking a Save button should calculate new values for X and Y positions of all boxes, then update their associated database entries. * Resize functionality: Create corner resize handles on boxes to allow users to interactively modify box height and width. Clicking a Save button would calculate new height and width values, then save them to the database. Work would be entirely online, you would save your changes to an SVN branch. You should be familiar with the Symfony framework.

I am looking for precisely the same type of person, but I'm paying. We are a well loved, self-funded hobbyist site where members submit and critique arrangements of video game music. I've spent the past three years watching volunteer after volunteer get caught up in school, crushed with day jobs, or simply unmotivated. We're almost a year late on our projected re-launch date, and the natives are restless. I'm willing to hire someone to help get the site launched this year to break the flake-out cycle. You'd be a hero to several thousand nerds. We're close, but we still need Javascript magic and an experienced hand on the markup (alongside the ongoing backend development). We have a complete visual design / theme, so we just need help writing Django templates and spicing them up with Javascript interactivity. You've heard this one before, but come to me for more details and I'll explain my idea to you and you may just agree with me that there's serious money to be made. I'm a programmer. I could do this stuff myself. However, I work a full time job, and I'm also not spectacular with making things pretty, graphically. I've put some time into developing the idea, but spent $0 because I have a mortgage to pay. I'm looking for someone else willing to dedicate some time to something that might just take off and be something amazing. What I need: A whiz-bang AJAX developer capable of making really great UI functionality that works in both IE and Mozilla. Safari would be great too. If you've seen things like iGoogle's drag and droppable components, NetVibes, etc, you know what I'm after. What the project is: See my MeFi profile for a glimpse. There's way more ideas behind it than just what's there, but that'll give you a general idea. In a nutshell, I want to give people the ability to tie all of their different internet presences into one place. Compensation: At the very worst, I could provide you with some perks such as space on my colocated webserver so you can host a site or two. Loud Dog is seeking a Senior Front-end Web Developer to take a lead role coding standards-compliant XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. We're looking for someone we get along with, who really enjoys coding, and who is passionate about the web.

We're looking for someone who can tell us:

What semantic coding is and why it's important;
How CSS allows you to separate style and form on the web;
When it's appropriate to use tables and when it's not;
Why the DOM matters;
What AJAX is and what it isn't;
Where the gray areas are in these questions.

And who is:

Passionate about front-end development (really, we aren't joking - we aren't looking for PHP jocks or visual designers);
An organized self-starter;
Good with deadlines;
Effective under pressure;
Great at communicating and working with teams;
Looking for a long-term job to grow with.

In terms of skills, you:

Have mad skillz with X/HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the DOM (you know it back and forth, up and down, inside and out);
Have worked with database-driven, dynamically generated web sites as well as static "brochure" sites;
Have authored DHTML widgets and can speak knowledgably about AJAX;
Understand the requirements and techniques for building accessible web sites;
Are familiar with both Macs & PCs (though you'll get to choose what you work on when you're hired), the browsers on each and the constraints imposed by each browser;
Have experience with both Photoshop and Fireworks (we primarily use Fireworks, but also work with Photoshop).

You'll be doing a whole bunch of things:

Creating XHTML and CSS templates based on comps provided by our design team;
Providing input to designers to help them understand technical constraints and opportunities;
Working closely with back-end engineers to insure that your templates work within larger systems;
Understanding implied and unexpressed client and user needs and proactively addressing them;
Examining and understanding existing websites and integrating new pages, styles and rules into them, and
Creating front-end deliverables.

Thinkature is a Cambridge, MA based startup developing innovative visual collaboration products. We launched our first version last week, and have had a great response so far. We're really serious about good usability, good design, and good code. This is an intense experience, so it's also really important that candidates be in the Boston area. We're currently a two person operation, so we're looking for someone who wants to get involved at the start of something we believe will be really great. This is an almost-founder like position, so it's critical that you're really excited about web applications, collaboration, and being involved in decisions about every aspect of a young company. Here are some of the kinds of jobs we hope you could do:

Do web design. (the usuals - HTML/CSS)
Hack on the client-side (we use Javascript in ways rarely seen on the web)
Enhance server-side functionality (our custom HTTP server is written in Python)
Test like a fiend on a variety of browser platforms (our current release supports all the major browsers)
Engage in high level design discussions about the direction of the product
Engage in low level design discussions about details of specific features
Develop relationships with potential future user groups
Run pilot deployments with specific user groups
Maintain community relations (writing on our blog, reading/commenting on others, plus staying involved in our forum and on our wiki)
Help us manage money and other administrative tasks
