HTML and CSS for simple web site

Looking for someone to do a one-off job of coding a simple web site. The site is already designed and has a very basic structure (header, footer, horizontal nav, some columns for content).

I imagine that for someone who's on their game that this is at most 2 hours work and probably much quicker by frankensteining past jobs (trust me, it's very basic).

Final product must be cross-platform/browser compatible & standards-compliant.

Those interested, send me an email and I'll fire you a graphic. If you feel the fee is insufficient and that I've underestimated the time please state so once you see the graphic and let me know you're price. You tell me how quick you can get it done and I'll choose from the applicants.

When the job is done, I'll paypal you the fee.

Web 2.0 Designer/Developer - Contract

Xeriton Corporation is one of the fastest growing software companies in the Pacific Northwest. Profitable for ten years straight, we have an immediate opening for an on-site Web Designer/Developer to lead the design and (front-end) implementation of an exciting new social networking property (think Digg, but on steroids). Your responsibility would be to design/refine the visual look and layout of the site with an eye towards functionality and ease of use.

Your work will be in HTML, Javascript, and the various graphics tools of your choice. Knowledge of ASP.NET is a definite bonus: you don't need to code in C# of course, but understanding how to integrate with the codebehind is helpful.

This position will be contract based with a possible option to convert to fulltime. We have a fun, bright, and collaborative work environment, free beverages, massage chairs, and the standard tech company amenities.

We will consider only on-site work at our Sammamish, WA (Redmond) location, and you must be able to start before August ends.

Front End Web Developer

So, you're religious about standards, speak fluently in the tongues of CSS and XHTML and have declared jihad against IE several times in your last few years of professional web development.

You're festidious about detail, have an eye for design, are a dab hand with Photoshop, care about usability, accessibility, semantics, information architecture and, importantly, making things that work well using best practices.

Moreover, you enjoy doing all of this stuff, and would like to do it on big boy web sites, for clients like Coca-Cola, Orange and eBay.

Also, you're not just gonna turn up, stare at your screen all day, then disappear at 5:30pm. You're personable, sociable, interesting, interested, fun, funny, keen and sane. Well, mostly sane.

Whack me your CV, portfolio URL or disk (a must, since we're obviously gonna wanna need to see some code…), and tell me about yourself, what got you this far, and where you wanna go next.

Convert design into WordPress theme

I need somebody who can convert a single web page design into a working WordPress 2.3.x theme. The design will be delivered in a sliced Photoshop file. You need to be prepared to create as much of the look in well-formed XHTML and CSS as possible. No tables, no frames, and no more graphics or Flash than are necessary. You need to understand columns, boxes, styled text, tight code, cross-browser issues, and consistency. You will use dummy text where the WordPress-specific tags will go and someone else will replace them with working code later, but the styling information must already be in place. In order to apply, you must have an online portfolio. Do not apply if you cannot adhere absolutely to the deadlines. The work begins November 8th and must be complete by November 16th, with no leeway whatsoever. All revisions must also happen before November 16th. This is for a non-profit startup: there is a small, inflexible budget for this: $500, including two rounds of revisions.

VGMix 3.0 - Javascript / HTML / CSS Wizard

"yerfatma" recently posted a perfectly-worded listing seeking someone with experience in XHTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a strong opinion about their favorite JavaScript library and a love of browser consistency and attention to detail. I am looking for precisely the same type of person, but I'm paying.

We are a well loved, self-funded hobbyist site where members submit and critique arrangements of video game music. I've spent the past three years watching volunteer after volunteer get caught up in school, crushed with day jobs, or simply unmotivated. We're almost a year late on our projected re-launch date, and the natives are restless.

I'm willing to hire someone to help get the site launched this year to break the flake-out cycle. You'd be a hero to several thousand nerds. We're close, but we still need Javascript magic and an experienced hand on the markup (alongside the ongoing backend development).

We have a complete visual design / theme, so we just need help writing Django templates and spicing them up with Javascript interactivity. The site will allow for custom theming so if you'd like to design your own, zen-garden style, we'd welcome it and I'd do something nice for you!

Our team's culture is very friendly and informal - we've hacked various versions of the site together since 2001, and are close friends who hang out on IRC. We use Trac, SVN, and an email list for project management.

I am myself a freelance musician so I am a friendly negotiator. If this sounds appealing to you, drop me a line and we'll talk.

Standards-based Web designer

Hi. We're White Whale, a small start-to-finish design-and-build firm in Oakland that develops standards-based Web sites and data applications. We are looking for an unconventional, intelligent, creative designer with a solid understanding of CSS, Web standards and valid (X)HTML. Because we're very small, we all wear a lot of hats; at any given time you may be working on branding guidelines, doing site buildouts, talking with clients, or working on our own site. So we need someone versatile, but creative thinking about Web design is at the top of our wish list. The position will begin as a part-time position, at a competitive salary, but could become full-time quickly. We offer full health and dental benefits and pay 100% of all premiums.

More: http://whitewhale.net/content/nowhiring.php

To apply: Visit our website and see if you think we'd be a good fit. Then email jobs@whitewhale.net and tell us what we need to know about you.

PixelMEDIA is looking to add to our small team of experienced web developers. We need someone with experience in hand-coding web sites and user interfaces in XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. Someone with a strong opinion about their favorite JavaScript library, someone who cannot stand inconsistency across browsers and is kept up at night by the 1 pixel differences they spotted across a room. This is a chance to work with terrific visual and information designers on the next world-class project to become part of our portfolio.

(Sorry, I have no idea what the pay range is.)

Web developer in South-East England

Hey! We're looking for web developers to work on the next version of our open source social networking framework (and the projects that spring out of it, which are both end-user websites and intranet facilities).
We are:

An innovative Oxford based start-up, hard at work bringing social networking to business, education, non-profits and anyone we can make more efficient.

Committed to open source software and business methodologies.

A friendly and relaxed, but driven, small team.

Interested in dynamic people who bring something new to the table.

You are:

Creative but level-headed.

Both able and willing to clearly share your own ideas as well as listen to and discuss other people's with an open mind.

A genuine web user who understands net culture, is excited by the medium and sees its wider implications.

An old hand at programming for LAMP environments, with some experience of object orientated methodologies. Bonus points for additional experience with any of CakePHP, the Yahoo! UI library or similar, and IIS. We care much more about what you've done than what certificates you have: show us the web apps you're most proud of.

Friendly and relaxed, but efficient.

A fluent English speaker.

Happy with both telecommuting and working from the office.

Willing to work at a company called "Curverider", with a largely non-violent attitude towards people who use words like "folksonomy".

To apply:

Send us your CV, preferably in PDF or a common wordprocessor format, to us at info@curverider.co.uk. Also include a brief covering letter about you, a website URL that represents you (eg a Facebook profile), a web application you've written and the answers to these six questions, including as much or as little detail as you think is necessary:

Describe, in English, a simple user login mechanism, including potential security risks and how to overcome them.

What is AJAX? How does it work? When shouldn't you use it?

Explain inheritance.

Pick three community websites and describe their relative merits.

What, for you, are the most important aspects of a web application?

Register with http://eduspaces.net/ and explore the system. How would you improve it?

AJAX / Web 2.0 Guru Needed

Nabbr.biz is looking for a UI expert with strong HTML, CSS and Javascript skills. You'll be building both large- and small-scale web applications.

Design skills are a plus, but we're more concerned with your programming skill than your abilities as a designer.

We want someone located in the NYC area. We work as a tightly integrated team, so we'll need you onsite.

We have a great team comprised of business people, Flash developers and back-end scripters. To round off our staff, we need someone who excels at browser scripting.

Nabbr is a "Social Promotion" company. We make widgets -- little mini websites -- that run on site like MySpace and spread virally. Most of our clients are in the music industry. We've created widgets for The Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Mika, Pink, etc. We're starting to branch into other fields -- such as movies, TV-shows and games.

We're a venture-backed startup, but we're doing very well. How well? Check out the live "total videos served" ticker on www.nabbr.biz!

Employees earn a compensative salary with the possibility of equity in the company.

We're located in downtown Manhattan.

Front End Web Developer

So, you're religious about standards, speak fluently in the tongues of CSS and XHTML, have declared jihad against IE several times in your last few years of professional web development.

You're personable, sociable, interesting, interested, fun, funny, keen and available to start pretty damn soon.

Whack me your CV, portfolio URL or disk (a must, since we're obviously gonna wanna need to see some code…), and tell me about yourself, what got you this far, and where you wanna go next.

Database and Reporting Specialist

Hello! MidSOUTH at UALR is a grant-funded training organization that seeks to train in the areas of initial and continuing education for social workers, foster parents, adoptive parents, and staff of the Division of Family and Child Services in the state of Arkansas. We're looking for someone to complete our IT team by stepping into the role of our php/mysql guru. The ideal candidate will know about data normalization, mysql optimization, and have a good understanding of database concepts. Also, the ability to use PHP, Crystal Reports, or other methods to produce reports of the data for our customers. We are thinking of moving to a CMS to simplify our current custom-designed portal, so experience with leading CMSs--we're leaning towards Drupal or Typo3--would be helpful. MidSOUTH is a great place to work (I've been here three years); even though we're part of a university, we have no faculty (and none of the political intrigue that brings), only staff. Also, $40,000 will take you a lot farther in Little Rock than most any other city! Anyway, shoot me or the jobs line a message if you have any questions. Here is the original posting, as it went out to the newspapers:

* * * * *

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, MidSOUTH seeks a qualified applicant to fill the Database Specialist position in its Information Technology Division. This position involves database design and management for MidSOUTH. Responsibilities include the design, creation, production, maintenance, and upgrade of the data collection and reporting side of MidSOUTH’s Web and non-Web systems. Duties include but are not limited to:

- Develop and maintain Web based and other data collection and reporting solutions for MidSOUTH.
- Maintain and develop MidSOUTH’s data systems and web portals.
- Maintain the CHRIS software/database system at MidSOUTH.
- Provide technical maintenance and support of the Peopleware database.
- Write technical documentation and client support documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years work experience in Web based SQL data programming, specifically in PHP and MySQL.
- Expert knowledge in database design and architecture.
- Programming skills (such as: PHP, Cold Fusion, ASP.net, JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL, and VBscript).
- Experience in various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Pro, and Windows and Unix OS’s.
- Experience in Content Management Systems and Enterprise Reporting Systems a plus.
- Highly developed problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent writing, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

In-state & overnight travel will be required. Position will require occasional work other than normal office hours. Applicants must have the ability to lift 30 pounds and negotiate stairs.

To apply: submit a current resume and a letter of application to: jobs@midsouth.ualr.edu or mail to: MidSOUTH, Attn: Frances K Griebel, 2801 S. University, Little Rock, AR 72204. Application deadline is April 20, 2007 @ 5:00 p.m. No telephone calls or faxes will be accepted. The salary is in the lower $40k range with competitive fringe benefits. All MidSOUTH positions are funded through contracts and are renewed on an annual basis contingent on funding. All applications are subject to public disclosure under AR Freedom of Information Act.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is an equal opportunity affirmative action employer and actively seeks the candidacy of minorities, women and persons with disabilities. Under Arkansas law, all applications are subjected to disclosure. Persons hired must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.

web developer and/or video editor at an NBC/Universal owned cable TV network

A major cable TV network owned by NBC/Universal is seeking one or two interns for the summer semester. The positions are unpaid, but you will get college or graduate school credit, and a foot in the door at a great TV network and a really great place to work.

You'll get a lot of hands on experience with what it's like working in a digital media group at a network, and get to see your work make a real difference to our websites and online video offerings. We have a lot of projects on our plate -- new website features to build, new shows launching all the time, bugs to fix and tech support questions to track down, message boards to (lightly) moderate, online webisodes to cut and encode, reality show contestants to interview on camera for online bonus content, production company tapes to log for our tape library, photo galleries to cut and resize and upload, 50+ blogs to publish and oversee -- and not nearly enough people to do them!

We can split this internship into one web development focused internship and one video editing focused internship, or we can grab one or two "jack of all trades" people. It depends on what skills you bring to the table.

Things we're looking for, video-related:
- Final Cut Pro experience a BIG plus
- ability to operate a "prosumer" level video camera and audio equipment
- familiarity with podcasts, audio encoding of WAV files to MP3 format, creating ID3 tags for MP3's
- familiarity with both Mac's and PC's

Things we're looking for, web-related:
- HTML, XHTML, XML knowledge
- CSS knowledge, including positioning and not just text-formatting, and some knowledge of CSS hacks to get around IE's long-standing issues.
- web standards, semantic code, accessibility issues, separating layout from content using XHTML + CSS, how to position content on a page without using tables, how to create appropriate headings and page structure, etc.
- Movable Type v.3.2+ and its major plugins
- Adobe Photoshop experience
- Macromedia Dreamweaver experience
- basic PHP
- basic MySQL queries
- familiarity with both Mac's and PC's

The internships are for any three days of the week, with relatively flexible hours, as long as Wednesday is one of the three days. THE INTERNSHIPS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR COLLEGE OR GRADUATE SCHOOL CREDIT. If you're interested, please respond with a short cover letter and a copy of your resume ASAP.
