Talented Photoshopper or digital artist to create fake movie poster.

Hey Gang! I'd like to commission a movie poster as a gift for my best man. It will be based on a humorous idea for a never-made sequel to an early Tom Cruise hit. I don't want to share specifics here in case of spoiling a surprise.

I need someone who can interpret my idea either in original poster-style artwork or via photoshop wizardry. In either case I'm open to a pre-discussed artistic interpretation, but I do have certain elements in mind that I can suggest by way of guidance. This will be a one-time, one-use thing so if it intrudes on someone's copyrights in some way, I'm going to do it anyway.

Artists from anywhere are fine; I only need the graphic - I'll handle the printing locally. I can't spend a lot for your work, but I'm eager to be fair and I'd sure love to work with a MeFite on this.

If you're interested in knowing more, e-mail or mefi-mail me.

Social Marketing Graphic Designer

This job entails creating 2 pro-recycling posters targeted at junior and senior high school students. We'd like to create a prototype, test its effectiveness, and then create final posters which would then be hung up at a variety of schools. This is for an academic research study, so we're measuring pre-poster and post-poster knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.

We've done research about what seems to be the most effective strategies to market recycling to young people, such as social norms, but we'd prefer to collaborate with someone who is familiar with social marketing theory, and optimally, with children's marketing. A great graphic designer/artist is wonderful, but a knowledge of marketing theory is also essential.

If you're interested, please contact me and we can discuss in greater detail.

Graphic Designer who knows Microsoft Access/VBA?

I am a graphic designer at a distributing company who has (mostly) automated most parts of his job. I am off to grad school and need to find and train a replacement(s). We could do two part-timers, but one full-timer would be best.

The more of the tasks below you can do, the better. If you can only do one half, send us your resume anyway.

Here is what I currently do and the skills I use to do them:
Adobe Photoshop:
• Take photographs of items. (own a digital camera? a plus!)
• Create clipping paths of items.
• Color correct photos. (if you know who Dan Margulis is, thats a plus!)

Adobe InDesign:
• Lay out sales sheets.
• Compile automated InDesign docs into one file and export to PDF for press.

Microsoft Access:
• Update Microsoft Access database from flat text files.
• Construct queries.
• Troubleshoot code in VBA.
• Write VBA to drive Adobe InDesign.

Again, the more you cross that bridge from "Creative Suite" to "Office", the better.

Graphic Designer Needed

I need a new look for my theater directing portfolio. I could use some help in figuring out how to lay out the pictures, how to display them, maybe create some of kind of "brand identity" (ugh).

I've got some big meetings in the next couple of months and I want to be able to clearly display my work in print and online, and I could really use someone to take a look at my work and critique it/help me design a better look for it.

Email me for more details. I'd be great if you had a portfolio for me to look at first, but if you're young and looking for a portfolio builder, than this job could be right up your alley.

Please also include a quote/hourly rate, etc.

Freelance Information Architect and GUI Designer

I am looking for either one individual to cover both responsibilities or two individuals to do each separate job.

The position will be freelance for approximately 4 to 5 months with probably a total of 2 to 3 hours of meeting time every other week plus whatever you need to accomplish tasks. Hourly rate we can negotiate. Also, you'll need to be available to travel to Arizona first week in August for one day. Reimbursed by us, of course.

Project involves re-designing the interface, navigation and reporting tools for a sales management application that is both web-based and served to a browser from the desktop. This is a data-based application that is highly information intensive and I therefore need someone who has experience in application IA/GUI rather than simply web design.

Anticipate a rather un-structured requirements development environment - we are not great at process. Fortunately you will be working off an existing application and a set of preliminary documents developed by an IA that left the project to move overseas.

Company is an established, global publishing enterprise that has existed for a long time. Project team is in the higher ed division.

Web-oriented graphic designer

Who we are:

We’re a small, dynamic, passionate startup dedicated to helping people solve each other’s problems in a simple, elegant way.

Who you are:

You’re an experienced web designer with a keen eye for detail and enormous graphic-design talent. Maybe you also are handy with standards-compliant CSS, or maybe not. You value simplicity. You have a sense of humor.

What we need:

Our site needs to be spruced up. We, at the very least, need a new logo and new design mockups. We can do the coding ourselves, but we’re willing to pay a bit more if your web-coding is as good as your design sense. We have clear ideas of what we do and don’t like, but we’re always willing to collaborate and try something new.

What to do from here:

Take a look at our site at www.fluther.com. See what you think. If you’re interested, send us an email with a link to your portfolio, your contact info, and a short note regarding your initial impressions.

Compensation is flexible and negotiable, and will hopefully lead to continuing work and ownership in the company.

Smart design directors -- One Interactive, One unleaded -- that get branding

My work, one of the largest branding firms in the world, has two design director openings.

One, a traditional graphic design guru, one an interactive wiz.

They're looking for someone with eight+ years of experience in graphic design, leading teams, providing guidance to juniors and presenting to clients.

I'm looking to work with incredibly smart people who can talk strategy *and* fonts. So far, I'm working with a lot of those. But there's the potential for a pompous InDesign monkey with a pretty resume to swoop in. And that will make my job, as a writer and person responsible for making presentations make sense, much harder.

The official job posts are:
here, but if you want a less boiler plate description of the gigs, or just your portfolio to get to creative directors, rather than just HR, let me know. I'm one of the few people in the building that works with everyone, and I promise to be frank. My email is in my profile.
