Web Communications Manager / Blogger Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Web Communications Manager position increases Columbia Business School's visibility by writing and producing relevant and engaging content for Columbia Business School's web site on a daily basis. Generates, investigates and brings to life stories related to School initiatives, faculty research, and student and alumni activities as well as timely business news and trends. Writes, edits and proofreads in accordance with accepted rules of style and syntax. Collaborates with members of the administration and faculty as well as people both inside and outside the University. Manages projects with attention to detail, accuracy, quality and consistency. Technical Writer

For mBalance, a company developing SMS networking servers (routing, applications, storage, billing, etc.) Looking for a highly competent Technical Writer to produce and manage the product documentation of the mBalance products. The Technical Writer will interact directly with Engineers and process the existing R&D documentation of the TextPass products into end user documentation. The role requires a technical background and an expert knowledge of word processing tools such as MS Word. Required: * Native English language skills; * At least 3 years experience as technical writer, preferably in a software product environment; * Expert knowledge and experience of word processing, preferably MS Word; * Good knowledge and experience of graphic editing tools, preferably MS PowerPoint; * Proven ability to conform to company documentation style; * Solid technical background supported by technical training; * Proven ability to quickly grasp new technical information; * Experience with document management; * Professional attitude and eagerness to deliver high quality work; * Involvement in technical and commercial product document reviews. It's a great opportunity - cool company, growing very quickly, they know that documentation is a very important part of the process, nice people, good atmosphere. Plus, you'd become my colleague, and I am -as we all know- very good company. If you live outside of Amsterdam/the Netherlands but want to move here, I know the company helps out with the moving process (though I don't know to what extent - I didn't have to move myself). This is an in-house job based in Amsterdam. Telecommuting is possible to some extent; you'd have to be physically present part of the time, though. Public Interactive, a fun, fast-paced technology team is searching for an energetic online national editor with strong journalistic skills and a passion for digital communication. Be a part of an historic consortium of public media organizations coming together to support multi-platform, system-wide public media coverage of Election 2008. As the national editor, you will oversee the management and redistribution of election content to our wide client base of public media stations. This is a full-time, on-site, contractual position for the period of February 4, 2008 – February 28, 2009, reporting to the Public NewsRoom product manager. Located in our downtown Boston offices, hours are flexible reflecting the various timelines of the campaign, debates, and major milestones. The E08 Editor will have a deep understanding of social media and web trends and the ability to create a balanced E08 special web feature. Senior Technical Writer, DNS/DHCP/ENUM

Nominum, a global provider of ENUM-based IP-Application Routing Directory, DNS, and DHCP solutions, is seeking a technical writer for an immediate full-time staff position in Redwood City, California. The position is as a member of Nominum's technical documentation team and will share responsibility for documenting Nominum's software products. Successful candidates will relish working in an extremely dynamic environment with competing priorities, and one in which the writer operates with a high degree of autonomy. Applicants with knowledge of Internet architecture, especially DNS, DHCP, and ENUM, are strongly preferred. Minimum Qualifications:

Experience documenting Internet software.
Expertise with Adobe FrameMaker 7.
Comfort in producing both PDF and HTML products.
The ability to work comfortably with minimum guidance in both Windows and UNIX environments doing a variety of online tasks, some of which may be new.
Team worker who enjoys working collaboratively, is comfortable asking questions, and can interact cooperatively with a variety of people.

Desirable Qualifications:

Skill with graphics design programs (preferably Paint Shop Pro), and a proven ability to create high-quality diagrams and graphic representations of abstract concepts.
A working familiarity with the practical details of DNS and DHCP.
Experience documenting and using Java, perl and Python.
Real-world current knowledge of XML.

This isn't an entry-level position. You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of TW experience: if you don't, you'll need to be a blow-the-doors-off candidate.
Did I mention this isn't entry-level? We need someone who's been doing this for a while.
We're interested in unorthodox candidates, because in our experience old-school Writers (a la IBM, HP, etc), with the Documentation Plans and the outlines and the being used to deadlines that don't change weekly...they don't do well here. Unusual people who can handle a very fast, results-driven environment tend to do well.
