The Sunlight Foundation is looking for an aspiring individual to assist the Creative Director and work closely with the Sunlight Labs in the creation of user-friendly widgets and web sites. The candidate should be proficient in "hand coding" of XHTML and CSS. Dedication to pushing pixels in Photoshop as well as within code is a must. We're a small non-profit with a lot of big ideas and solid funding, including support from Omidyar Network. We're working hard to clean up Congress and bring Transparency to our Democracy and we're having a lot of fun in the process. Projects range from Chumby hacking to Crowdsourcing data acquisition applications. Our advisory board includes Larry Lessig, Craig Newmark and Esther Dyson. Requirements: - Attention to detail - Perseverance / steadfastness with hairy coding challenges, UI conundrums, and shifting priorities - Willingness to push boundaries one day and then work on mundane tasks the next - Open to collaboration, taking direction, as well as working alone - LOCAL to METRO DC Area (we don't need or want a telecommuter, sorry.) - Example URLS are required with resume. My company, Nabbr.com, is looking for an full-time, onsite designer. We already have two MeFite's working here. Let's make it a third! Our company is thriving, full of talented people, and never boring. If you join our team, each project you work on will be wildly different from the last one. You'll be working on our web site, developing unique graphics for our clients, and making images for our sales team to use in presentations. Most of our work involves promoting trendy products (bands, movies, video games, etc.) to young people, so you have to have a hip, cutting edge design style -- not a super-corporate one. Take a look at our homepage, nabbr.com, to see our current design aesthetic. You won't be locked into this (we want someone creative), but you should feel comfortable with the whole "web 2.0, rounded corner" thing. We'll need you to be able to create production-ready images, which means optimized and, if necessary, sliced. If you have any Flash, web-coding, or video skills, those are pluses, but they're not requirements. We pay well, and there's a possibility for equity in the company. I've got some big meetings in the next couple of months and I want to be able to clearly display my work in print and online, and I could really use someone to take a look at my work and critique it/help me design a better look for it. I'm launching a new (online) managed service for a niche market, and I need someone with actual graphic design skills to help me create some promotional materials within a 3 week timeframe. I already have - the copy - some base images and artwork - the overall concept, tone, idea, market demographic ... but I need someone skilled in the kung-fu of aesthetics and design to take all this, slap it into InDesign (or Illustrator) so I can take it somewhere for printing. The ability to add your own graphics, photos, illustration, art, and/or vision is a huge plus. Deliverables will be electronic files for the following: 1 'trifold' style brochure. (An 8.5x11 piece of paper that ends up being tri-folded into a pamphlet/brochure) 1 'full page' magazine ad 1 'half page' magazine ad All of these are really the same ad, working off the same basic concepts, but just repackaged for different dimensions. Again, you **don't have to deliver actual product on paper** I just need the files necessary for me to take these to a printer. - I've got about $400-500 for this. - I *absolutely* need to see samples of other brand/identity/ad work you have done. - Telecommuting's ok with me - I'll take applications for about 4 or 5 days, and then I'm working on a schedule of about 2-3 weeks for the final delivered products.
