AJAX and User Interface wizard needed

Note: This is volunteer work with revenue potential. You've heard this one before, but come to me for more details and I'll explain my idea to you and you may just agree with me that there's serious money to be made.

I'm a programmer. I could do this stuff myself. However, I work a full time job, and I'm also not spectacular with making things pretty, graphically.

I've put some time into developing the idea, but spent $0 because I have a mortgage to pay. I'm looking for someone else willing to dedicate some time to something that might just take off and be something amazing.

What I need:
A whiz-bang AJAX developer capable of making really great UI functionality that works in both IE and Mozilla. Safari would be great too. If you've seen things like iGoogle's drag and droppable components, NetVibes, etc, you know what I'm after.

What the project is:
See my MeFi profile for a glimpse. There's way more ideas behind it than just what's there, but that'll give you a general idea. In a nutshell, I want to give people the ability to tie all of their different internet presences into one place.

Compensation:
At the very worst, I could provide you with some perks such as space on my colocated webserver so you can host a site or two. It's a LAMP server and I'd be happy to install any fun toys (within reason) you want.

At the very best, the idea is executed well, takes off, and a company is formed. You're hired on as lead interface developer. You're given a significant share of any ad revenue taken in by the site.

Database and Reporting Specialist

Hello! MidSOUTH at UALR is a grant-funded training organization that seeks to train in the areas of initial and continuing education for social workers, foster parents, adoptive parents, and staff of the Division of Family and Child Services in the state of Arkansas. We're looking for someone to complete our IT team by stepping into the role of our php/mysql guru. The ideal candidate will know about data normalization, mysql optimization, and have a good understanding of database concepts. Also, the ability to use PHP, Crystal Reports, or other methods to produce reports of the data for our customers. We are thinking of moving to a CMS to simplify our current custom-designed portal, so experience with leading CMSs--we're leaning towards Drupal or Typo3--would be helpful. MidSOUTH is a great place to work (I've been here three years); even though we're part of a university, we have no faculty (and none of the political intrigue that brings), only staff. Also, $40,000 will take you a lot farther in Little Rock than most any other city! Anyway, shoot me or the jobs line a message if you have any questions. Here is the original posting, as it went out to the newspapers:

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Develop and maintain Web based and other data collection and reporting solutions for MidSOUTH.
- Maintain and develop MidSOUTH’s data systems and web portals.
- Maintain the CHRIS software/database system at MidSOUTH.
- Provide technical maintenance and support of the Peopleware database.
- Write technical documentation and client support documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years work experience in Web based SQL data programming, specifically in PHP and MySQL.
- Expert knowledge in database design and architecture.
- Programming skills (such as: PHP, Cold Fusion, ASP.net, JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL, and VBscript).
- Experience in various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Pro, and Windows and Unix OS’s.
- Experience in Content Management Systems and Enterprise Reporting Systems a plus.
- Highly developed problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent writing, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

In-state &amp; overnight travel will be required. Position will require occasional work other than normal office hours. Applicants must have the ability to lift 30 pounds and negotiate stairs.

To apply: submit a current resume and a letter of application to: jobs@midsouth.ualr.edu or mail to: MidSOUTH, Attn: Frances K Griebel, 2801 S. University, Little Rock, AR 72204. Application deadline is April 20, 2007 @ 5:00 p.m. No telephone calls or faxes will be accepted. The salary is in the lower $40k range with competitive fringe benefits. All MidSOUTH positions are funded through contracts and are renewed on an annual basis contingent on funding. All applications are subject to public disclosure under AR Freedom of Information Act.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is an equal opportunity affirmative action employer and actively seeks the candidacy of minorities, women and persons with disabilities. Under Arkansas law, all applications are subjected to disclosure. Persons hired must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.

PHP/Database Programmer for small hobby site. Amateurs welcome.

I'd like to change <a href="http://www.microhorror.com">MicroHorror.com</a> over from its current primitive HTML-based form to a sleek new database, in order to make it easier for me to update and maintain. Unfortunately, I am sorely lacking in the requisite programming skills, and require assistance.

All I really need is the database. I don't mind doing the grunt work of transferring all 150+ stories to the new format. I just need someone to show me how.

Please note that this is a hobby site and makes no money. I can pay a little, and I'll be glad to discuss the amount with you, but I just can't afford professional rates. Maybe you're an amateur working your way through <i>PHP for Dummies,</i> or maybe you need a few sites in your portfolio before setting out into the real world. You're the kind of person I'm looking for.

Help a guy out?

We have a client running a billing system (GPMS) on an old RISC6000, AIX version 4, and we need someone to create custom reports that export the data in some format that can be utilized by them later.* I know enough (from working with AS400 stuff) that I've been able to do most minor maintenance for them via smit, but this is a bit beyond me.

The position could be done from anywhere, and would be paid via a 1099.

* It's because their contract with the vendor, IDX, is finally up, and the software/hardware will be removed this year.

Contract-to-perm Web Programmer (.net preferred)

I've got two job opportunities - you may apply to one or both.

<b>short term:</b> Contract work. We need a kick-ass <b>.net</b> (flavor up to you) and SQL web programmer to create a few large, CMS-driven sites from scratch. You are welcome to bring your own libraries and user controls to the table.

Work starts immediately and will be enough to keep your attention full-time for at least 4 weeks. Documentation and scope established, look and feel done &amp; sliced - we just need you to code, code, code.

Project Manager is a former developer and will help get you up to speed. Telecommuting is fine, being local would be awesome.

<b>long term:</b> Contract-to-perm. Any language/platform (.net/SQL preferred), we want a superstar developer to lay down a foundation for a future programming department. Establish coding standards, create libraries, and help develop a core suite of CMS tools.

You'd be working with a team of folks on project planning and scope, and with gfx/HTML/CSS people on final production.

We are nice people in an established webdev firm, if a little overwhelmed by the amount of business we have recently attracted. Shoot me some of your work and a bit about you to get the ball rolling.

PHP Web Developer

<strong>PHP Web Developer <br />Nucleus Medical Art/ParticleWeb Services</strong></p>Nucleus Medical Art (our parent company) is located in Kennesaw, Georgia (about 20 minutes north of Atlanta). In business since 1997, we currently have 24 employees; composed of medical illustrators, sales and marketing people, developers, and support staff. Our parent company’s primary pursuit is the creation and sale of high-quality, best-of-breed medical illustrations for the legal, healthcare, and publishing markets.</p>ParticleWeb Services was created in February of 2003 and is a subunit of Nucleus Medical Art that specializes in the design and development of high-quality web-based applications for clients from all industries. The creation of the ParticleWeb business has allowed us to take our more than eight years of experience in creating high-quality, data-driven web presences and offer that to outside clients.
Database work for media company in Portland, OR

A client of mine is looking for someone who is experienced with data extraction, transfer, transformation, cleansing, other normalization based on target specs, loading into other formats etc. Their description of the gig follows.

- nonmyopicdave

---------------------
We rely on Filemaker now and have some tools (Filemaker scripts) already built, so it is definitely helpful if the person is an advanced Filemaker user. If opportunities exist to find patterns and automate these processes more, they will be encouraged. They are not bound to Filemaker--any other method is acceptable, e.g. Perl/PHP and mySQL, provided it gets us the results in comparable time. Windows and MacOS platforms are available for use.

Should be able to work with both formal and informal ways in which data is provided (for example soft instructions about a group of data needing to be taken care of in a certain way over the phone, or a bunch of excel sheets that have all the info in there, but not to spec, etc)

Knowledge of image processing, different image file formats and running scripts and actions (photoshop based) is a definite plus, though not required for the short term.
