	<title>Data Fellow for Obama Campaign</title>

	<description>The Obama campaign&apos;s grassroots movement is supported by the best data management in politics.

The Obama Data team is looking for data-savvy supporters to join our team as Data Fellows for the last weeks of the campaign. The position is full time through November 4th.

Data Fellows will be required to attend an online training and will be expected to volunteer full-time in the state of their placement for three weeks. Data Fellows will also:

    * Assist the voter file manager and data team with data processing, data compilation, or reporting needs
    * Assist the organizers with data-intensive tasks and projects
    * Help build this movement in any way they can

	<description>We are looking for a talented and motivated software engineer to work on the design and implementation of Yahoo! data processing infrastructure, and adapting it to Yahoo!&apos;s international product needs. As a member of Yahoo!&apos;s Data ETL group, you will provide senior-level contribution to the development of one of the world&apos;s largest and most complex data warehousing solutions. Challenges include designing high-performance multi-parallel algorithms and building their fault-tolerant implementations, that can scale to handle petabytes of data and meet the requirements of various Yahoo! businesses. You must be a quick learner, have good communication skills, and be able to maintain ownership of projects throughout their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, and post-release maintenance.


Minimum Job Qualifications

* BS/MS in computer science or equivalent.
* 3-5+ years of experience in software engineering industry.
* Strong and proven skills with C++, Perl and UNIX.
* Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques and object-oriented programming.

Preferable Job Qualifications

* Knowledge of SQL, STL, NFS, TCP/IP a plus.
* Experience with Internationalization projects, data processing/ETL tools, relational databases, and exposure to large-scale systems development projects preferred.

	<description>Reference Associate: NYU Bobst Library&#8217;s Coles Science Reference Center

The Division of Libraries at New York University (NYU) seeks a Reference Associate to play a key role in the development and implementation of emerging practices and support procedures for the curation of scientific data. Create and maintain metadata for scientific data sets. Provide a variety of reference and research services to library patrons in person and remotely. Conduct library tours, basic information literacy classes, and term paper clinics for students. Assist with content development and maintenance of Science unit web sites. Participate in Science unit projects and strategic planning initiatives. Reports to the Head of NYU-Bobst Library Coles Science Reference Center.

Bachelor&apos;s degree in science or related field. Excellent interpersonal, research and oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and patrons. Experience in working with scientific data sets or equivalent experience. Library public service work experience, or equivalent. Familiarity with standard office software and HTML. The preferred candidate will have an advanced degree in a science or technical discipline requiring interaction with data sets. Two years&apos; experience in reference or bibliographic instruction in an academic library. Knowledge of online research resources and databases. Familiarity with research methods in the sciences. Experience with statistical software packages. Familiarity with metadata standards and practices.
