	<title>Mac I.T. firm looking for a helping hand</title>
	<link>http://jobs.metafilter.com/mefi/1099</link>
<description>Are you a Mac genius with incredible people skills and crafty troubleshooting abilities? Are you the one your friends turn to for help with their Macs? When you don&apos;t know the answer, are you able to admit it (and then figure it out)?

Let&apos;s chat! We&apos;re a small Mac consultancy catering to art / media / graphic design / film / small business clients throughout New York City (with an emphasis on West Chelsea).

We&apos;re looking for a very part-time assistant to take on service calls throughout the city. Perhaps you&apos;re a student looking for some extra income, a freelancer with a little extra time on your hands, or already a Mac tech looking to fill some gaps in your schedule with our clients. It&apos;s an ideal position for someone with a flexible schedule. This is a 1099 position.

If you think you&apos;d enjoy running around town and meeting lots of crazy creative people with wide-ranging tech issues, send a cover letter and a r&#xe9;sum&#xe9; (PDFs only, please). Let me know about tech experience and your areas of expertise (networking? web design? pro video?), if any. We&apos;re a small firm, so what we&apos;re really looking for is a Mac-centric generalist (with the ability to grasp new concepts / do the appropriate research quickly and accurately) who can present a friendly, confident face and communicate clearly with our clients, whether their tech issues are tiny or huge.

Nick Burns (your company&apos;s computer guy) need not apply.

<description>Law and technology. Two industries that historically have very little dependency on each other. However, as businesses move away from the days of paper contracts and typed memos, electronic documents and sophisticated technology infrastructures have become commonplace with legal teams. As a result, businesses are relying more and more on outside advisors to help them understand where important documents are located, how they can be retrieved and if they can be used as evidence in court.

Kroll Ontrack is the UK&#8217;s largest electronic disclosure, computer forensics, data recovery and courtroom services provider working with the largest law firms, FTSE and government organisations. We employ skilled lawyers, consultants, investigators and project managers to counsel our clients on identifying key electronic and paper documents that could be critical pieces of evidence.

We are currently looking for an Electronic Evidence Consultant (EEC) to assist the business development, project management, computer forensics and data management teams understand our clients&#8217; technology requirements. This EEC will play a critical role in analysing, scoping and pricing business opportunities prior to an engagement. Once engaged by a client, the EEC will be integral in providing technical guidance to the various teams to ensure a full understanding of the technical challenges and opportunities.

The EEC plays a critical role in coordinating with legal consultants on evaluating business opportunities, proposal writing, business presentation and overall technical consultation before, during and after a client engagement. An ideal candidate would have the following:

&#8226;	Advanced IT, infrastructure, data management and software experience
&#8226;	Preferred experience working with law firms and/or in-house legal professionals
&#8226;	Persuasive writing and presentation skills
&#8226;	Strong time management, multi-tasking and organisational skills
&#8226;	High ability to work on confidential, sensitive and time constraining matters
&#8226;	Strong analytical, mathematical and reasoning skills
&#8226;	Two-year degree in related IT, business or equivalent experience

Kroll Ontrack is the Legal Technology division of Kroll. Based in the US, our office in central London services clients throughout the UK, Europe and Asia. We are a dynamic organisation that is growing fast and is at the forefront of the legal technology industry.
