	<description>The Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) is the nation&apos;s leading organization of people who believe the war on drugs is doing more harm than good. We fight for drug policies based on science, compassion, health and human rights. We work to ensure that our nation&#8217;s drug policies no longer arrest, incarcerate, disenfranchise and otherwise harm millions of people, especially people of color, simply for what they put into their own bodies.

DPA has 46 staff, and is supported by 26,000 dues-paying members and 50,000 online members. The San Francisco Office, one of eight offices in four states and the District of Columbia, focuses on local San Francisco policies and promotes reality-based approaches to drug education for young people.

We are seeking motivated and reliable candidates for the position of Administrative Associate. Candidates should be committed to promoting drug policy reform and the principles of harm reduction.

&lt;strong&gt;Position Description&lt;/strong&gt;
Position: Administrative Associate, 20-24 hrs per week, $15/hr, non-exempt

Benefits: Vacation days, sick time, short-term disability, paid holidays and 403(b)

Location: San Francisco, CA

Reports to: Deputy State Director, San Francisco 

The position requires excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Expertise in standard office, spreadsheet, and database applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Knowledge of Access preferred. High school diploma is required; college degree a plus. The perfect candidate is a team player who has the ability to be both flexible and productive, work on many different projects at once, and who understands and values the work of the organization. Strong attention to detail is important. Familiarity with drug policy and harm reduction preferred but not required. 

&lt;strong&gt;Primary Responsibilities&lt;/strong&gt;
The Administrative Associate provides administrative support to the San Francisco office&#8217;s two staff. These duties include:
&#8226; Ensuring appropriate office reception (email, phone, and in-person)
&#8226; Coordinating office correspondence, including routing or responding to mail and producing mailings
&#8226; Coordinating office activities with others in shared office space
&#8226; Processing accounts payable and preparing expense reports
&#8226; Overseeing maintenance of office machines and supporting staff in their use
&#8226; Maintaining computer and paper files
&#8226; Making travel arrangements for staff
&#8226; Assisting with basic research and documentation
&#8226; Taking notes and producing minutes of meetings
&#8226; Assisting with planning and production of community and fundraising events 
&#8226; Assisting generally with office projects as needed

Job Description:
A professional concert pianist is seeking an administrative assistant to email (and telephone) potential presenters, schedule and execute time-sensitive follow-ups, keep a detailed correspondence database, assemble and mail promotional press kits, schedule concert dates, and keep excellent records. The job is part-time, and requires between 8 and 10 hours of work a week.

Applicant Requirements:
An applicant for this position must have at least 3 years (preferably more) of experience working in arts/music management or as an artist assistant.  A graduate-level degree in arts management or arts administration is preferred, but not required.  Applicant must demonstrate incredible organizational capacity, exceptional ingenuity in problem-solving, and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).  In addition, applicant must have computer savvy, including internet skills covering website-navigation, Google-search, and email-program skills, and sophistication in operating such programs as MS Word and Filemaker Pro.  
	
Job Location:
For more qualified applicants with appropriate computer software and quiet home office environments, the job can be done from applicant&#8217;s home office during weekday hours to be mutually agreed upon.  Applicant must be responsible, reliable, and self-motivated, and will need to turn in a productivity report at the close of each workday with details of the tasks accomplished.

Work Hours:
Work hours are somewhat flexible, but need to be scheduled in concentrated blocks of time between one and three hours long.  Work hours should be during 9-5 business hours, in order to reach presenters during their own office hours.

Compensation:
Pay will be commensurate with experience, and will range from $12/hr to $13.50/hr depending on applicant&#8217;s qualifications.  Starting wage will be re-evaluated six months into the position, allowing for an increase commensurate with assistant&#8217;s consistent high performance over that span of time.
