Pre/Post Sales Engineer

Eucalyptus Systems is looking for a great Sales Engineer to cover the East Coast of the US. We're an Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud startup company, well-capitalized, and growing quickly.

The Pre/Post Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for developing and expanding client relationships, identifying additional revenue opportunities within those clients, and working closely with the Account Manager on those clients. The SE is responsible for: being an expert on Eucalyptus technology and services, understanding and explaining the value, and effectively presenting relevance and differentiators to clients. The position requires 50% travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

- Answering technical questions related to Eucalyptus products and services for sales team members and clients.
- Developing solutions with Account Manager and clients in response to needs; identifying services to grow sales to new and existing clients, primarily in a pre-sales role. Performing scope calls (gathering requirements for inclusion in service proposals).
- Writing service proposals and statements of work (SOW). Preparing written presentations, reports, and service contracts as well as communicating value of service proposals with client if needed.
- Engineering and demonstrating Eucalyptus products and services to clients.
- Continuously getting and communicating knowledge about competition, competitive issues, and products.
- Attending and participating in sales meetings, product seminars, and trade shows.
- Assist in developing the technical skill levels of the members of the Account Management team through structured and ad hoc training opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, or Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or 5 years of Enterprise Sales Engineering experience.
- Experience working with Global 2000 corporate clients in data center environments.
- Recent experience working at a virtualization or platform company.
- Proven ability to craft a solution and develop proposed responses with appropriate products and services based on client discussions.
- Proven ability to engage with CIO or CTO and all levels of client contacts to propose, present, and discuss technical solutions.
- A comprehensive understanding of virtualization, Linux, web services, network concepts, protocols, and operating practices is required. Includes TCP/IP, Java, Linux administration, C, Python and Perl scripting.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
