Full-time freelance designer (2 openings)
January 12, 2011 1:56 PM

Leading financial news website CNNMoney is looking for 2 full-time freelance designers, for at least a 2 month period, starting as soon as possible. These are on-site positions, and we are located in New York City. Please do not respond if you cannot work on-site.

Responsibilities will include sizing photos, creating charts and infographics, helping with small layout requests, and more. You will not be coding, but you should know some basics, as it helps you make intelligent decisions within our workflow. You’d be helping out a small design team lead by yours truly, in a busy but friendly newsroom environment. Probably best if you’re at the beginning of your career, but that’s unimportant as long as you’re willing to do unglamorous work.

Required:
Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency
Excellent communication skills – can’t stress this enough
Attention to detail
An interest in current events
Hard-working, flexible, friendly attitude with a sense of humor
Ability to juggle several incoming requests and work quickly when needed
Intellectual curiosity balanced with discipline

Bonus points:
Familiarity with financial concepts
Flash, After Effects

Send me links to your website and/or examples of your work, and please mention if you know some basics about the world of financial concepts -- ie, stock trading, saving for retirement, banking, mortgages, credit cards, fiscal policy, etc.

payscale: Reasonable -- depends on experience
job type: full-time
