Senior (Unix) Systems Administrator

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining all UNIX servers at Bentley. Duties will include developing and maintaining systems administrative procedures, security audit procedures and backup/recover routines and disaster recovery plans. The Senior Systems Administrator will also be responsible for administering an EMC SAN which will include LUN configuration, snap and mirror configuration and problem resolution as well as creating backup/restore procedures. Other responsibilities include: project planning, hardware/software recommendation, capacity planning, and pro-active monitoring of system resources complete with automated paging and Email. Candidate will be assisting database administrators and developers with application installation, automated process scripting and application troubleshooting.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of Sun Solaris system administration experience and at least 2 years UNIX scripting experience. The candidate should be Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating Environment. Experience supporting Oracle database and application servers is a must. Candidate should have experience with EMC SANs, Veritas NetBackup and LINUX. Must be available for 24/7 support via pager and/or cellular phone. The candidate must have very strong analytical communication and organizational skills and be capable of working effectively with all levels of the organization.
