help me brainstorm pros and cons of using static jekyll site

this is just a one time gig. I need to get a site up and I have some qualms about wordpress. Seems overkill, trade offs with security and oversight required maybe not so worth it given my needs. I think I want to go with a static site, and use Jekyll. This might mean I need to host some components of the thing off the site. I think that would be ok. Anyway - I generally do well with this sort of thing if I can bounce ideas off someone to start.. Was thinking it would really help to have a short brainstorming session about this. Maybe you can help?
