About NewTV
NewTV is a non-profit Newton-based organization dedicated to providing the diverse Newton community with a platform for opinions, news and local information not generally available from commercial or public media. NewTV also offers training, a media facility and content distribution while supporting the First Amendment right to free speech of the Newton community.


The goal of the Education Channel is to be the number one resource for educational institutions within the city of Newton for training, content distribution, and technical advice. The responsibilities of the Education Channel Coordinator is to:

-Serve as the direct liaison between NewTV and all Newton schools, both public and private, K through 12, colleges and universities included
-Establish, build, and maintain relationships with media instructors, educators, administrators, educational IT personnel and other school related positions
-Manage an active internship program that provides the training and resources necessary to create original content
-Work closely with educational institutions media instructors in providing coverage for events, activities, sports, graduations, performances, and other related school productions
-Develop and distribute original content that is educational

Responsibilities:

-Encourage participation and provide support for on-location productions and events affiliated with Newton schools
-Provide the training and assistance to interns and students in helping them start and complete media projects
-Work with the production staff on educational projects, managing content and developing a comprehensive programming schedule for the Education Channel
-Manage and teach student training classes
-Provide web content and updates related to the Education Channel
-Collaborate with the Executive Director, Operations Manager and other staff to purchase equipment and software related to intern, school and student needs

Qualifications:

-Three years experience in a television or media environment (studio, field, editing)
-College degree or equivalent life experience in a related field
-Must have prior experience with facilitating youth media productions
-Must be an excellent communicator, organizer and time manager with an ability to conceptualize and generate new ideas through individual and group training sessions
-Extensive knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Studio
-Understanding of basic HTML and content management
-Comprehensive understanding of media distribution, file types, codecs and compression techniques
-Desired proficiencies in Facil, Telvue and experience working in a community media organization
-Familiarity with NewTV and the Newton community is a plus


Salary commensurate with experience, starting salary of $40k with NewTV benefits plan
