The project Manager/Web producer (PM), manages online communications projects from start to completion. The PM is the primary contact between customers and the Web team, and manages approximately 15-20 projects at any given time.

The PM ensures the appropriate process is followed, the client’s expectations are managed, deadlines and budgets are met, and routine problems are solved. The PM also plays a central role in developing the communications strategy, preparing written content, and creating the information architecture plan.

Key PM activities:

* Working with UMC staff to determine research methods and technical solutions.

* Educating clients on the project process, Web capabilities, best practices, standards and methods.

* Working with clients to prepare and provide content.

* Writing briefs to inform client and project team of project goals, strategy, and requirements.

*Determining required resources, identifying vendors, contracting, and assigning work.

*Devising detailed cost estimates and schedules.

*Regularly meeting with project team to ensure project is moving toward meeting client expectations within deadlines and budgets.

*Billing clients

An important function of the Project Manager/ Producer is to organize and prepare content, and develop the information architecture plan for each project. The PM will determine the hierarchy of content best suited to the audience’s needs. The IA plan involves organizing content across pages and within pages to be most effective for audiences. To accomplish this, the PM develops site maps, wireframes, and determines navigation features

Requirements

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English writing, journalism, or a related field. Requires demonstrated ability to edit and optimize Web copy. Requires demonstrated ability to organize site content and develop site architecture. Requires a team-oriented approach to tasks.

Three years in Web communications, Web site production, or related work environment, with direct experience in project management and optimizing and structuring Web sites. Familiarity with a range of communications media and technologies is necessary. Requires customer service and project management experience.
