Network Administrator/Technology Coordinator

The International Campaign for Tibet is looking for a Network Administrator/Technology Coordinator to manage the wide variety of technology at ICT. As Network Administrator/Technology Coordinator, you will manage the daily operations of the technology infrastructure in ICT's main office in Washington DC. In addition, you will be in charge of day-to-day maintenance and updates to ICT's website, www.savetibet.org. As such, you function both as the Webmaster and the Network Administrator for ICT.

This position is full-time and reports directly to the President of ICT.

The International Campaign for Tibet works to promote human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet. ICT is a dynamic, growing, multicultural organization with nearly 100,000 active members worldwide. Founded in 1988, ICT is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization with offices in Washington, Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels.

The Network Administrator role provides about 70% of the work of this job. The Network Administrator is in charge of maintaining the office's network and providing desktop support at ICT, but the role is for the most part limited to the United States office (where the Webmaster role interacts frequently with our European offices). The Network Administrator manages the 20-25 Windows PCs that are used on a daily basis in the office.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Maintaining user desktops running Windows XP Professional and Office 2003
* Maintaining several servers
* Providing daily helpdesk support for staff of 20
* Installing/updating software and hardware on desktops, laptops and servers
* Providing daily tape backup for multiple servers
* Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, printers, desktops, servers and network as a whole.
* Maintaining a high-level of internal security, with Windows Updates as well as antivirus, malware and spyware protection.

Necessary qualifications include:

* Considerable background with network administration
* Considerable experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems, from the general to the specific
* Considerable background working/troubleshooting with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2003 and Windows Server 2000/2003
* Experience working with SQL Server
* Experience with fundraising software (Raiser's Edge) a considerable plus
* Experience managing a small business network extremely helpful

The Webmaster role provides about 30% of the work of this job. The main focus is ICT's website (www.savetibet.org), a multi-language, multi-character set website) but this position is also in charge of ICT's other, smaller, websites.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Working with other staff to provide content updates to the website
* Regular maintenance to ensure the website is error-free and running smoothly
* Adherence to web standards to maintain a clean, polished website
* Working within ICT's internal Content Management System to provide regular updates to the website
* Working with ICT's third-party Content Management System (Convio) to integrate additional modules with the website
* Working with other applications to provide documents/images/content for the website
* Providing high-quality service with multiple languages and multiple character sets

Necessary qualifications include:

* Experience with dynamic websites
* Substantial experience with PHP
* Experience with MySQL or knowledge of backend databases
* Fluency in HTML, particularly hand-coded
* Working knowledge of CSS
* Knowledge of and strict adherence to web standards
* Working knowledge of Photoshop, Fireworks or similar graphics editing application
* Familiarity with web servers and web protocols
* Some experience hosting/managing/coding a website
* Any experience speaking/writing a language other than English is a substantial benefit, as well as experience using a non-Roman character set.

In general, the successful candidate must work well with wide variety of people, especially those who are not particularly tech-savvy. Successful Candidate must also be able to maintain high-quality work on multiple projects with multiple deadlines, while interacting with a number of people. S/he must have a commitment to excellence, as well as a high-quality approach to work. Technology Coordinator must be a self-starter and be able to manage time effectively. Technology Coordinator must also be able to think quickly and creatively for solutions to a wide variety of problems. Nonprofit background and/or human rights interest a considerable plus
