Fix my WordPress SQL database problem!

Hi there: I have a quick fix that is (most likely) readily identifiable by anyone who actually knows backend coding and engineering for WordPress.
Our nonprofit WordPress site is having a search error which returns "Unable to serve this request" upon submission.
Looking at the logs, I see a repeated:
"WordPress database error Query execution was interrupted for query SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts.ID FROM wp_posts"
(it goes on, of course)
Would like to hire someone to poke around and offer a solution! I entered a $$ here, but hit me up with your rate.
