Needing some ajax help

I'd love to do some ajax-ification of many small GET and POST submits on MetaFilter, but I'm terrible with javascript. I know there are tons of good js and ajax people reading the site, so I figure about ten hours of $50/hr work could probably cover it.
Using scriptalicious or a similar framework would be fine, you'd just need to write some small enhancements for mefi pages, on a staging server that would eventually get worked into the live site.
